If you're standing in line here, literally take some steps and go to other options. Maybe you saw this first... just move on... you'll be in line here 45 mins to even get served. See below.
This is somewhere that Gordon Ramsay needs to come to scream at for sure. Google lists it currently as busier than usual... Yet about half the tables are empty as they are "reserved" no one seems to arrive, but potential customers keep leaving as the reservations definitely outweigh the customers. They are physically downstairs of the Island Hostel (great: see review soon) and if stating you have 50% off your first drink if it is one of 4 on their list, and 10% off everything else, as long as apparently you tell them in advance, and they haven't already taken your card off you for the 50% deal. The Staff seem to have no idea about this or how it works. Some places (including their wall) state they are open until 22h ... But they really seem to close at 21:30 and are very, very negative about serving you after 20:45. Hookah is allegedly available, though before 18h you are too early and after 20:30 you are too late... I will provide a further update later if i can. Summary: stay at Island Hostel ... But don't believe the connection to Steg Pub helps you in any way... Including being able to sit down for a beer. The only benefit is the shared wifi works down here too... And after a few tries you can get a half price espresso... Assuming you can find an unreserved table.... (Presumably there must be a process to reserve a table.... But that's not very clear at all.... After almost an hour here no one has sat at a reserved table ...) PS: if you've made it this far maybe you are sitting in the pub and think there might be table service.... But like many Hungarian places you will just have to go order at the bar it seems.... Of course no indication of that, but that's just common here, unless you pay 12% for service)
Got back at 18h stood in line for 35 mins to get to the bar.... Then told again no hookah, maybe tomorrow. After complaining... Thet managed to find one. And allow me to buy a beer (45 min wait literally in line... Everyone go to a different bar down the road... So much faster...idk why people stand in line here...)
Hookah had one coal and was not properly lit....
Of course after all that my 10% discount was a thing of the past. Maybe i could have argued for it... But at almost an hour in... I just...
Read moreWe moved to this pub after a disappointing time at the bar close by and we are glad we did. After a beautiful late October day of exploring Maragaret Island, we stopped in this pub to enjoy a meal and a beer or two. The pub is located on the southeast side of the island and near the Danube River. The pub sits along the Gasztro Setany, which makes it the perfect place to sit, have a pint, and people watch. From what we could see, the entire pub is located outside, with tables in front and several more tables upstairs on a uncovered patio. This place was very busy at the time and it took some time to finally get our order taken, which has to be done at the bar, no table service. The staff were quite busy, but no one was nasty or otherwise rude, they were just too busy to chat. We got here just as the sun was going down and enjoyed the layback atmosphere of this pub. The food was okay but nothing to really write about. Finally, there are restrooms here for paying customers and the prices were...
Read moreI came here yesterday and had a pretty frustrating experience with the woman with blonde hair. She was really rude and not very communicative. I ordered a drink along with my food, and since she didn’t mention anything about waiting for the drink, I just sat down thinking both would be brought to me.
Later, she told me I left my drink at the bar instead of bringing it over. When I went to get it, I couldn’t see my drink because it was blocked from my angle. When I asked where it was, she pointed to it in a rude way.
Then, when my pager buzzed, I went back to the bar and she again told me rather curtly that my food was at the kitchen—something she never mentioned before. Honestly, this was by far the worst service I’ve had during my few months in Europe this summer. I hope whatever’s bothering her gets sorted soon, because better communication and a friendlier attitude would make this experience a lot less frustrating for both...
