I had been eagerly anticipating visiting this restaurant for quite some time, but unfortunately, my experience left a lot to be desired. While the decor is quite charming and inviting, the food and overall experience fell short in several areas.
To start, the menu didn’t offer anything particularly exciting or unique. There was no dish that immediately caught our attention, and we found ourselves questioning whether the lack of inspiration in the descriptions would translate into better food. Sadly, it didn’t.
We ordered the duck croquettes, and they were far from what we expected. If we had been blindfolded, we would have assumed it was a dessert, overly sweet with an overwhelming cinnamon flavor, and no hint of duck.
The side dish of spinach with gorgonzola was enjoyable, but unfortunately, that was the only standout item. The spreadable sausage, other sausages, and cold cuts were all completely lacking in flavor, which was disappointing.
For dessert, we tried the crema catalana, but it didn’t resemble the traditional version we were expecting. The portion was tiny, and instead of the classic caramelized sugar crust, it had a caramel-like sauce on top. While the flavor was decent, it didn’t match the classic crema catalana in either taste or presentation.
In total, we spent around €60, which would have been reasonable had the food met our expectations. Given the experience, I’m sad to say I would not recommend this restaurant, and I won’t be returning...
Read moreAs its title suggests, it is just another overpriced, ripoff Budapest restaurant without any particular merit. The tapas were fine but the service was not particularly attentive, we were practically ignored by the staff for about 15 minutes. The ambience is mediocre but not too bad. All this for the average prices of 3,000- 5,500 HUF per tapas and side dishes, and 6,900 for a main dish. We had a glass of wine (2dl) a selection of olives, the selection of salami and Iberian ham, (very small quantity for 5,000 HUF) a baguette, and a tapas consisting of three tiny croquetas. We ended up with a bill of 19,890 (50 Euros). would say that is about 20-40% higher than in Spain or Italy in a similar place and nearing the prices in New York. The quality is nowhere near matching those price tags. They charge about 1,450-2,500 for 1dl of wine (which is pretty small and they measure it very accurately!) What really pissed me off was that they automatically charge a 13% tip (service fee) and 27% sales tax on top of the tip! I have never seen that, and I find it offensive. I find the pricing of this restaurant outrageous and I will...
Read moreNothing special and not worth that much money. We had octopus, mushrooms, potato variation, chorizo, cauliflower variation, and the cheese selection. The octopus was cooked well but I do not understand the pairing with the guacamole when the guacamole was simply bland. I would recommend adding a spice kick eg jalapeños or some cumin. The cheese selection was OK Potatoes were OK Cauliflower variation should honestly be paired with the octopus instead of the "guacamole", minus the dried fruits as the sweetness from the onions is more than enough. The chorizo was horrible we had one each and left it as it is. I personally couldn't even finish one bite. The menu could be a lot more creative, a lot more flavourful. I do commend their speed and their staff's hospitality despite us coming in during a rush hour. Wouldn't...
