I ordered a pork schitzel on the picture-less menu for 2100 huf. Assumed it came with something on the side since everywhere country i went to in the last 10 days included mashed potatoes or kraut - So the waitress asked me what I would like on the side. When I said "fries", then she asked - what else? Being suspicious, and fore-warned from my previous travels to shady countries like Cuba, I then asked if these sides were extra cost...she stumbled and said "yes they are included but you have to pay for them." What kind of answer was this!!! So in the end, I got charged 750 extra for fries and my dish I thought costed 2100 ended up costing 2850; which is not a real good deal anymore. I would have gotten dinged for more if I wasn't careful. Didnt touch the bread they put on our table or it would have been another 800 huf probably. Also this restaurant is one of the first medium sized businesses we encountered in our entire week here in budapest that didnt accept credit card! Even some small shops in the Great Market Hall accepts credit cards. They had the trip advisor "recommended" sticker everywhere. How could an establishment that accepts only cash be trip advisor certified??? Total misleading propaganda. Please dont come here and save yourselves the dissapointment Also tip was mandatory at 10% and added to the bill. There was no option to adjust the tip to what you think the restaurant deserved. The only good thing I will have to say was the food was good and came quickly.

I was starving, ordered Goulash. Was asked what side, ordered a mixed green salad and Latte, partner Chicken Kiev. Latte arrived followed by Goulash. A soup with kidney and white bean, together with bread. So Awful I added a teaspoon Chili paste to cover the dreadful taste. Goulash meat mainly stringy cartilage and not cooked long enough. Eventually waitress brought out the chicken Kiev, and a plate of goulash with pasta, and 2 salad, not mixed greens but various pickled vegetables, nothing what we expected. Surprised I got plate of goulash but gladly switched from that awful Soup I didn't wanted to begin with. I couldn't believe it, what they called goulash was a disgrace to Hungarian Food, tough gristle fat meats, also undercooked and even worse that the soup. My partner offered me half the Chicken Kiev that taste it was deep fried in oil that should have been switched out 2 weeks ago. Only one Pickled "Salad" was touched because I lost my appetite. Overall, only the 2 Latte and the bread served with that dreadful soup where acceptable and than came the true shocker, nearly €38 and was pointed out that tips are not included. I have eaten all over the world but this was by far the worse garbage I have ever eaten and regretted having to pay €40 Euro for it. I should have been eating at the McDonalds around the corner. And shame on those giving high ratings. They must have been paid for it or their acquaintances, they certainly haven't eaten there.

Food is good generally. Big portions, price is normal. They have much choice. Soups and main courses are better than desserts. But i don't like the service. You always have to wait a lot, 45 min minimum. If i raise an issue the waitresses usually become very defensive and pick up an argument with guest. I said that beef goulash meat was hard and only reply was that "today we got a worse meat from the butcher and why you did not tell us the problem before". I told her because we cant wait agaim 45 min to get another dish. Her reply was that it is normal to wait 45 min in full house 😂 and when they bring bill, they are pushing guests to give tip by saying that "service fee is not included, and feel free to share if they can add more money on the bank terminal". This is redicolous after such a bad service.

At this point I am going to say this is probably my least favorite restaurant in Budapest. I was in the area and thought I would give them one more try for lunch. I stopped in right at 12 noon, they had a table available but I was told I would have to be gone by 1:30 PM because it was reserved at that time. No problem that leaves me an hour and half 1 1/2 to eat to eat lunch. I ordered immediately because I knew what I wanted, the cottage cheese noodles, it is a fast and easy dish to prepare!

Then I sat there and waited for my lunch, the guy sitting at the table next to me got his big bucket of soup.....ate it all....I was still waiting for my food..... then he got his desert and finished that off and I was still waiting for my food...... then he got his bill paid it and left......... and I WAS still waiting for my food.

By now it was 12:40 I had sat there for 40 minutes without being served anything. I finally got up and asked my waitress where my lunch was and she gave me that classic brain dead look, didn't say let me check on it, in fact the idiot woman didn't say anything. I told her I was leaving and then she finally dribbled out a feeble OK. Im going to assume that she never put in the order for my food because the place was not full and what I ordered takes at the most 20 minutes to prepare.

I left the restaurant at 12:42 after wasting all that time sitting at a table watching other people eat their food.

Not sure how this place gets so many good reviews, I have to assume it's from tourists that think what they are serving here is good Hungarian cooking. In fact I have had some really unpleasant food at this place, so I have learned to stick to the soups, and to avoid the frozen and fried food that makes up the majority of what they sell.

A lot of reviews, but honestly the food is not that good. Besides much of it being deep fried I have had some truly bad things here. Today I had their bone marrow and there was something funky and wrong with it, instead of being oily and translucent like it should be it was chalky and fell apart, also I'm not feeling so good after having eaten it. In fact I think most of their main courses are not that good. I would in the future just stick to their soups and perhaps the...

This was a place personally recommended to us so we were looking forward to having a lovely meal with our friends I start by saying WE ARE NOT FUSSY EATERS We arrived 10 minutes early for our 8pm booking and we were told the table would Not be available until 9pm We said our booking was 8pm ! OK then wait 10 more minutes.. .. we then were shown to a table While we waited we noted people sending their food back to the kitchen but we thought don't worry sure it will be OK BIG MISTAKE!! WE should have left then !!!!!!! We tried to order a few dishes from the menu but they didn't have them ! After a long discussion as to what they Did have we ordered our meals and drinks I've got to start by saying our starters were passable, which we did eat but we had not even finished our starters when our main meals arrived !!!! The waitress would NOT take the main meals away and threw them at us basically...we have NEVER had such a TERRIBLE meal Every meal was Cold....poorly presented.... tasteless....dry.....overcooked......chips were frozen as was the vegetables...... could not eat it !!!!!!!!!!!!! We ordered bread which never came..... Our drinks arrived pretty simple to get right, just water and wine None of this was served with a smile to be honest the staff were extremely rude !! We complained to the manager who still tried to say we'd eaten the food when we had only eaten a mouthful. We told her we WOULD PAY for the starters of cheese and the drinks but NOTHING ELSE.....she still tried to make us pay for some of the food, which we refused AVOID THIS PLACE...
