The Pointer Pub & Restaurant (Váci u.) — Restaurant in Budapest

Stopped of here on our last day in Budapest after visiting buda castle. Unfortunately we wish hadn't.

We where a group of 7 consisting of 4 men and 3 women. We where seated by a young dark haired girl straight away as it wasn't very busy. She took our drinks order and shortly came back for our food order.

Our drinks came out and shortly after 3 Margareta pizzas that the girls had ordered. We was told the rest of the food would be coming shortly and the girls fries where on their way out.

10 minutes later when the girls had finished their pizza which was ok but nothing special our food arrived which consisted of 2 monster burgers a BBQ beef brisket and a full English breakfast. The food was average but I wouldn't say it was worth the money they are charging.

The young waitress told us again that the fries where coming but as the girls had finished their pizza they no longer wanted the fries I told her not to worry about the fries as they'd finished and she just looked at me an walked of.

When all the food was finished and they'd started clearing the table the waitress appears with the 3 portions of fries which we kindly declined and this is when it really went down hill.

If looks could kill I would not be back in Wales writing this now. She told us we had to have the fries as we'd ordered them but we said we wasn't having them and we certainly wasn't paying for them and she argued with us for a good 5 minutes and then stormed off talking with her colleagues. We asked for the bill and asked for the fries to be removed from it which they eventually did after some arguing.

We asked to split the bill and she said no I think she just wanted a massive argument. A skinny man came out the kitchen trying to intimidate us when my wife was paying the full bill via the card machine.

Please avoid this place at all costs and if the waitress reads this review you need to learn that the customer is always right and I hope your shortly sacked such a...

our server was so BEYOND rude? Have never had anyone like this. Was impatient with us, and did not let us choose a seat that we wanted (the pub was empty around 3 other tables in use). After we sat down and ordered… they removed the F1 from the TV in front of us (the whole reason we were there), so we moved tables due to this to face another TV that was still showing F1. The server was so rude to my boyfriend who called him over, apologised for moving and asked if we should settle the tab as we have moved. The server was so rude, stating in such a tone that what we did was not ok but as “you are now here what can I do”. And just continued to respond to my boyfriend wanting to pay in such a rude way. Beyond appalling. We just left sadly. We were planning to stay there much longer but left before the race was even over as the server kept up his sour mood. He also came over to our table and without speaking pushed a table against ours forcefully, and moved the chair next to me so aggressively! He was also talking to the other servers loudly and when I looked over he was pointing at us and everyone was looking… so awkward! don’t recommend if you’re a foreigner….! Random aside but they have weird anti-vegan propaganda up (not a vegan myself but seems strange to exclude a whole group of potential clientele?)....

We have frequented this venue over a 2 week period and the young man with the slicked back hair is extremely good at his job and has made every visit enjoyable. So.it is with sadness that I write this. The rest of the young team are also very pleasant.

However, today I was confronted in a very rude manor by what I presume was the manager who decided to speak to me in an intimidating and sarcastic manor regarding my t shirt being off in 34c heat. As mentioned above we had frequented this venue and I had done this on previous visits with no issue. A simple please would have sufficed. I would happily respect this request should it have been identified sooner. I was also happy to abide by his request despite his brash and sarcastic approach for what it's worth. He single handedly made me give this review. It is a british pub after all and I fear this will not be the last time he has to confront brits abroad who commonly can't wait to catch some sun away from our often rainy island. Maybe even just put a sign up and then there would be no need for...
