I came to Caruso excited for a nice Italian meal during my Iceland stay. The restaurant itself is super cute and cozy. The menu had good variety as well. Overall, I was pretty disappointed with my visit, though. I was sat on their heated/covered patio and was waiting just over 20 minutes before I was acknowledged. Staff were coming in/out of the area frequently, but I do understand it can be hard to manage busier nights. Once the waiter stopped by, I ordered a 1/2 carafe of wine and my meal, the mushroom risotto. The wine came out quickly and in less than 10 minutes, my meal was also brought out. It felt rushed, as all of the other tables around me had ordered well before me and hadn’t been served, but I paced my eating to enjoy the meal. The food had great flavor, but the risotto texture was off. It was also a bit liquidy, but by no means a bad meal. After my food was dropped off, no one checked on me to see how things were. I was felt to be more of an inconvenience than a dining patron. Once I finished and had sat sipping my wine for some time without anyone stopping by, I did stop my server on his way out and asked for the check. He acknowledged with a nod, yet no check was brought. After quite some time, another 30minutes or so, I again stopped and asked my waiter for the check. He asked if I wanted to see a dessert menu and I politely declined, and then again, no check delivered. I waited maybe 20min after that request and never saw my waiter again. The table next to me was a dining family who joked that I should just leave as I’d tried paying but it didn’t seem to be of importance to them. I finally stopped another table’s server to ask if I could have the check and he immediately brought it out with no issue. In all, I was at the restaurant 2hrs for a meal that I’d received in the first 30minutes of my arrival. Service can make such a difference for me when dining. I didn’t feel welcome and wouldn’t...
Read moreWe were trying to have a peaceful lunch with my friends(table of 4)and a table of 12 showed up. They were being very loud and they also had a baby who was also being very loud. Of course the baby was not our problem but the situation was very hard for us. We didn’t say anything of course because you can’t say anything in these situations but the mom at some point probably saw that we were annoyed and started shouting that it’s just a baby and that we think her baby is horrible. Then her husband showed up and literally said to the men of the table “come outside now” in a very threatening way that made me feel very scared. The rest of their family was begging us not to call the police and were apologizing in their behalf which proves that we actually didn’t do anything wrong. The main reason why I am writing this review is to talk about the way that the manager of the restaurant handled this situation. Both parties were being loud and I understand it caused problem for the restaurant but the fact is that we were threatened in their store and what she said is that since we have finished our food we can just leave. So she basically kicked us out instead of the person who almost attacked us for no reason and denied to bring me in contact with someone above her. I asked to speak to the supervisor and she said that it’s her. Then I asked to speak to the owner and she told me they are dead. And then she changed it and told me they were gone and she is not going to call them. This is by far the worst service I’ve ever gotten , the behavior of this woman was more than absurd. I am never visiting again of course and I think she should be held accountable of her actions. I am waiting for at...
Read moreI usually leave pretty friendly reviews, but in the case of this restaurant, not a chance. I can say I have never wanted a meal to end faster in my life. Let me ask you if you would feel…out of place? Come into restaurant after a long day of touring the country, and read the good reviews. From the moment we arrived, something felt off, like the staff didn’t want us to be there. We are seated, and there is a substantial period of time before we are even spoken to, this would normally not bother me too much, but when our waiter actually arrived, he didn’t even greet us, instead just kind of looked at us and asked if we were ready. I ordered a pizza, my wife pasta. A soft drink was $5 (US) and a lager, that looks no different than Budweiser is $11 - to me that isn’t worth it so we stuck to water. This is when it got really weird. He took the 2 wine glasses away, and that was it. Bread to snack on before dinner? Nope. Even though every other table had bread. He dropped off the food, and never came back. In fact, another server collected the plates and gave us our bill. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant before. I sincerely felt like I was part of a lower class, and I can say as a teacher who doesn’t have a ton of expendable income, I would NEVER want someone to feel that way. Let’s just say, we paid that bill and made like a banana and split. In fact, we went and then got crepes at a nice local shop were I was actually treated with respect- as I wasn’t going to give this place another dime. I would not recommend unless you have a lot of money you would like to spend in order to get treated...
