This was by far the best food I had in Iceland! We actually ended up going 4 times in 2 days it was so good!
The first day we had the lobster tacos and the chicken wings and they were amazing. Franklin’s (the chefs) wings are not fried and are seasoned to perfection. You don’t even need any dipping sauce! Both wings and tacos are the best I ever had.
We were so impressed with lunch that we asked about other items on the menu and came back for dinner. We then tried the Juicy Luicy burger and the beef flat bread. Both again, we’re the best I’ve ever had in my life! That first bite of burger was like heaven in my mouth.
The next morning we came in for breakfast and we weren’t expecting to be blown away because you know…most breakfast is the same from place to place. Eggs , bacon ,pancakes, potatoes , coffee etc But man oh man we’re we wrong. We ordered the pancake , egg, melon, fried potatoes, and bacon and the portion was sooo much food. It was probably the first time during my whole vacation that I didn’t finish my plate lol. The potatoes were the high light. Seasoned to perfect and best breakfast potatoes I’ve ever had. The eggs , bacon, and pancakes were pretty standard…but not bad at all!! He also gave us a Skyr which was pretty good.
The next dinner was our last night in town so we had to go back. I needed that juicy luicy one more time!! Lol my wife got the potatoe tacos and she loved them. He then gave us his mushroom soup on the house for giving him so much business in 2 days 😂. And again it was awesome.
Franklin really takes his time with each dish. He really cares about the taste and how much we love the food. I wouldn’t be surprised if Gordon Ramsey comes their one day to try his food. I was blown away and I hope this place gets more recognition because...
Read moreFirst off, a lot of photos and reviews on here are for a DIFFERENT restaurant that doesn't seem to exist anymore. Burgers, sandwiches, all the great pics and reviews of food on the light wood grained wooden tables doesn't exist at this restaurant. Photos of dishes on the butcher block style dark end grained tables are what is actually served.
The actual restaurant should be skipped unless everything else is busy but you're not actually hungry, you just want a place to hang out. All the dishes are tiny so if you're hungry, order double what you normally would and then keep expectations low. Scallops, all two of them, were overcooked and rubbery, same for the lobster in the (2) tacos. The real crime here was the rack of lamb, unlike some pics I've seen they only serve two (2, sense a pattern here?) pieces (that's not a "rack") and cooked them both well done. Well done! They shouldn't even be allowed to buy lamb if they are just going to waste it, sacrilege. The cod was actually pretty good. The waiter was curt at best. If you are going to do tiny portions for decent money, like tapas or a tasting menu, you have to nail each dish, otherwise it's just overpriced.
In response to the restaurant's comments:
We actually asked the waiter about a dish we saw online, showed him a picture, and he literally said that's a different restaurant.
We did comment about the cook on the dishes. The waiter thanked me for the feedback and said he'd tell the chef, no...
Read moreYou know, when everywhere is fully booked and you noticed a restaurant you stumbled on the street has plenty of space. You will wonder how good this place is. Well, I'm pleasantly surprised. This place is VERY good!!!!
Beef Tataki - Very tender.
Mushroom risotto - Excellent. Great texture and tasteful.
Fried potatoes with Parmesan - nice and crispy.
Croquettes de Bacalo - Not fishy at all, great texture, crispy on the outside.
Lamb filet - For a person who doesn't like lamb, this is extraordinarily and highly recommended. The small piece of charred skin was so flavorful. I thought I smell gamey lamb but once got in the mouth, couldn't taste any gamey but amazingly tender. Perfectly seasoned as well.
Fish of the day - Ling cod. I'm not a fish person but goodness gracious. It was well done, delicious and love that freshness. Not...
