Fish and Chips were really great, mixed sea food portion a bit small for the price and fish unfortunately overcooked. Major problem was that the card machine wasn’t working properly, so what ended happening is that they took my money twice out of my account. After trying to call them several times with no answer, mailing via their website I still have no response which left me to leave a review via google. I am happy to take this down/change it whenever I get an answer or a solution to the problem but especially as a tourist that can’t just pop into the shop this is not okay. EDIT AFTER 4 MONTHS: Still no feedback nor contact by the restaurant even though I have sent in total 3 e-mails/contact requests via their website and tried calling them multiple times. By now it won’t be able to work anymore as it has been too long. My bank wasn’t able to help either so I ended up paying double. Very frustrating and bad customer service.

I have tried fish n chip on first day lunch near the harbour and now again just because I told my wife I really enjoyed fish n chip here on iceland. Tbh the fish meat is pretty bland and tasteless as compared to the fish back in my hometown singapore. However, I just liked this tasteless fish taste, if you want to have stronger taste, just dip into their lemon oil or tartar sauce! Another thing to comment is their fish soup I have no idea how this is made but pretty much similar to lobster soup I tasted on mon morning (after whales watching). I wonder what is used to make the soup 🍲 because I wanna bring back the concept to SG if next time I have spare cash will surely try open a concept store selling good and traditional icelandic food/drinks!

The fish and chips are ok, this is Icelandic family style fish and chips and less like UK fish and chips. Chunky chips would be more like the latter instead of French fries. The fish batter is quite good, could be crispier. I wanted to be very explicit about what I wanted so I ordered "2 fish and chips and extra fries" which seemed to confuse the person behind the counter, I clarified that with "2 fish and 3 fries", I received 2 fish and chips and 3 portions of fries. I thought it was just expensive because it's selling mostly to tourists, who are the prey of the town's businesses. It's quite unpleasant to sit at the tables near the counter as a thick air of grease flows from the kitchen while you wait for take away.

Cozy place with interesting music choice.

We were first time visitors at this small resturant chain and mostly it will also be our only visit.

We came in and sat down, had a nice table and the music and environment was overall nice.

We went up to order a Fish n Chips to share and asked the staff how big a portion was. They said 2 fish and some fries. Which was ok. We paid and then sat down again.

The food came and the waitress came with 2 bowls of fish n chips. Which we thought were nice since we asked to share the fish n chips.

However, when we were about to go out after finishing one if the staff took us aside and said we had to pay extra portion of fish n chips because it was a mistake. The waitress then behind the other staff member then said "when I came down with your food, I asked if you ordered 2 fish n chips and you said yes"... Which the waitress did not ask when she came down with our food. But the waitress was sure she asked.

Non-the-less we paid for that extra portion after some discussion Which we clearly saw as a scam because the staff acted very nervous when we were taken to the side.

Overall judgement. Very bad service, a bit arrogant staff, minimum interaktion with customers.

Food was bland.

Environment was ok but the toilet smelled very bad and no toilet paper.

Would not...

I’d like to start by saying the food was lovely. Couldn’t fault it. What wasn’t was the customer service. I witnessed a waitress give an order to the wrong customer and then tell him off for not telling her she’d done it! He defended himself, (rightly so) saying he wasn’t sure if it came with the dish he had ordered. She treated the situation incredibly poorly. Her further responses were incredibly sarcastic. I understand there may have been a language barrier, however that doesn’t justify rude service. When the gentleman was leaving he rightly so made a comment as he was leaving and she continued to be sarcastic. Once he had left she went and informed her colleague who immediately ran out of the door like he was going to run after the customer and have a go at him! I thought this was incredibly strange behaviour. She has obviously mislaid the conversation incorrectly which is unfortunate. As someone who works in hospitality I was astonished at how badly she was treating the situation. I was planning on coming back before the end of my trip as the food was nice but after this I shall not be....

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Reykjavik Fish during my visit to Iceland, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The restaurant had a warm and inviting atmosphere, with vintage-style maps on the tablecloths adding a touch of character to the decor. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

As a seafood lover, I was eager to try. I opted for the fish and chips with lemon butter sauce, which was recommended by several previous diners. The dish arrived promptly, and the first bite was heavenly. The fish was light and crispy, and the lemon butter sauce added just the right amount of tang. I could tell that the fish was fresh and cooked to perfection.

Although the prices were a bit on the high side, I felt that the quality of the food and the friendly service more than made up for it. I would highly recommend Reykjavik Fish to anyone looking to sample some authentic Icelandic seafood dishes in a cozy and inviting setting. It was definitely a good ecperience, and I...
