Coastal Mama — Restaurant in Bengaluru

Coastal Mama used to be our top choice for Indian west coastal cuisine around JP nagar. Their fish and prawn dishes were always the highlight of our week, and Sunday dinners here became a tradition for our family. Despite an hour-long drive through heavy traffic, we gladly made the journey because the food was consistently fresh, flavorful, and satisfying.

However, our recent visit was a major letdown. We waited over an hour for our food, only to be served cold dishes. Adding to the disappointment, we noticed a constant stream of delivery orders being sent out, which seemed to take priority over the diners at the restaurant. This left us feeling ignored and undervalued as customers.

While Coastal Mama’s food has always been worth the drive in the past, the poor service during this visit overshadowed everything else. It was disheartening to see a restaurant we once loved shift its focus so heavily toward delivery at the expense of its dine-in experience.

We truly hope Coastal Mama can return to the standards that made it a beloved spot for us and many others. Until then, we’ve decided to take a break from dining here. If they can address these issues and bring back the quality and service they were known for, we may reconsider visiting in the future. For now, we wish them well and hope other diners have a better experience...

Ambience - 5 Felt shack side vibes there. Just like a coastal side bar. But no bar though. Full of coastal touches around. Even the wash sink has coastal touch in it😁, as in the posted photo. Food - 4.5 Mangalore and Konkani style food. There are lot many varieties available. I tried Anjal rava fry, which was good as expected. Opted Neer dosa and fish curry for main course, which I loved the most. Opted based on the suggestions from owner/waiter, based on our taste requirements. Opted soft drinks too. The quantity of drinks served is more here. Non-alcoholic beers are also available here in multiple flavors like strawberry, canberry, orange, etc., The price was reasonable too. Service - 5 Service is really good. They let you know once in a while how much time it takes. Based on our taste requirements, they will suggest us the food items. Visited this place on Sunday. I have always ordered fish items to home from here. But today thought will visit personally and eat. As soon as you reach the entrance looks a little dingy. And parking is a pain. But once that is done, the food and the service is amazing. Ordered: Sol kadhi: 4/5 It was cold, refreshing and tangy. Loved it. So I ordered two just for myself.

Mackerel Green masala fry: 4/5 The masala was amazing, fish too was good. But would order this in sheer/pomfret the next time. As the mackerel's fish bones is difficult to separate out in this masala. But the taste was spicy and good.
