Must visit place for authentic Iyengar Food 👍 Those who don't prefer onion and garlic in their food, can visit this place service basically pure authentic Brahmin food which is basically Iyengari cuisine. You need to try their puliyogare, Ambode, Ullandogare, Kadugogare & sweet pongal. Prices are very very cheap. An awesome place to get a taste of typical Iyengar dishes. Extremely friendly people and they ensure you have a great experience there. The food was just mind blowing and scrumptious. Do drop by the place if you are ever in NR Colony. It's definitely worth it 💕 One was not enough had to order 2’nd plate of Benne pudi thatte idli even when i was not hungry đŸ€€ this itself sums up my overall experience & the taste of thatte idli. Pudi Thatte Idli and Open Pudi Dosa were tasted and were very good. The puliogare and rice, majjige huli served with balka menshinakai ( dried, salted chilli, fried in oil) is awesome 😎 We have tasted Akki Rotti, Puliyogare, Benne Pudi Thatte Idly and Sakkare Pongal heređŸ„° Small eateries are sometimes a boon, especially this one. Having the experience of running a food catering business, this place is serious about taste and keeping it authentic. There is something warm and welcoming about the place, I think its the friendly owners who are behind the counter. Space/seating is limited and I wondered how they manage during peak breakfast/lunch times. The food is fresh, you can tell, unlike those mass produced. We tried the plain/podi thatte idli, the masala dosa, puliyogare and sakrepongal. The flavours are so well balanced, nothing too spicy either. Good food. Very small and tidy place. The owners are very patient and friendly. They serve you with authentic food. If you are visiting on weekends then need to wait a bit more for your orders. Small place with big surprise , home food , simple and tasty food with smiling faces making sure every customer is happy , neat and clean & more over pocket friendly Especially Their sakkare Pongal and Puliyogare are famous around the city đŸ„° Great food & humble people. The food reminded me of home, warms my heart. Thank you for the great food, annadhata sukhi bhava đŸ„°đŸ™đŸ˜đŸ’•đŸŽ‰đŸ€©đŸ˜ŽđŸ€€đŸ€—đŸ˜Š Taste 5/5 Serving size 5/5 Price 5/5 Hygiene 5/5 Quality...

This is the eatery which is the ‘talk of my part of the town’ in the last few weeks. I’ve got WhatsApp forwards of a Video review of this eatery, I’ve seen different people - from Techies to retired officials - heaping praises on this eatery. I visited it on a Saturday afternoon. True to the buzz and hype, the restaurant was full to its brim. It seemed like ‘parceling the items home’ is a more popular choice here. There was a long queue at the parcel counter. The owner of the restaurant himself was at the counter and he was also multitasking by helping his employees who were parceling the food. At times he seemed to show glimpses of annoyance and impatience towards the customers due to a sort of unmanageable crowd (quite understandably so !).

Menu had Puliyogare, Sweet Pongal (Iyengars’ signature dishes), Chapati + Curry, Rice+Majjige Huli, Rice+Kootu, Curd Rice etc.. All these items are reasonably priced. After ordering the parcel items, the wait time was around 30 minutes ! After such a long wait I took home the items (Chapati + Curry, Rice + Majjige Huli and Curd rice) These items tasted good - like simple home cooked food. I’ve nothing to complain except that the quantity of Curry wasn’t sufficient for 2 chapatis. At the same time, there’s no ‘wowness’ with the taste of the items I had.

So, was the overall experience worth the 30 minute wait ? Was the taste exquisite enough to deserve such hype and buzz this eatery has created ? Unfortunately I don’t have a resounding and convincing ‘Yes’ at this time even though I may visit the restaurant in future to taste the other food items I’ve not yet had.

In my opinion, there certainly are many curious ‘eaters’ at this eatery, but I’m not certain if there’s enough that this restaurant offers at this time to turn these ‘eaters’ into...

Over hyped place.. No doubt bout the food taste they serve.. But the attitude thy show towards customers is very poor.. Incident took place in front of my eyes.. wherein elderly person came n took rice b pineapple rasam, wherein rice was not hot, n rasam was not too hot also.. cuz the restaurant lady was holding rasam glass in her hand n saying it’s too hot.. if it’s too hot how can she hold it in her hand.. n then the one more person came I guess he was the owner n said show me the plate n he took the plate n said u want food hotter than this.. if u want food to b tat hot.. oly in catering u wud get tat not here.. if tats the case y do u guys serve food n name it as restaurant.. customers r always god.. atleast show some respect on elders who r of older generation who prefers to eat hot food in this weather.. N more over u guys r not serving food at free of cost.. u guys r getting paid for wat customers eat.. if u can’t serve hot food.. then shut ur restaurant.. jus cuz tat person was old enuf n was alone.. if u can’t serve hot food also fine but atleast don’t show ur attitude wit older people.. Bangalore has got 1000’s of restaurants who serve better food than u guys does.. but if somebody is reaching out to ur restaurant to eat doesn’t mean u guys r giving the best.. cuz of this 1 incident even if u guys serves the best dishes.. it’s all waste in front of the attitude u people show towards ur customers.. serve customers happily.. cuz nobody is eating at...

Place is in NR colony. Near APS college grounds.Opposite mahila mandali school is a side road. Just 1 cross from there is the place. It is small. Self service and take out. As soon as you enter is parcel counter. If you want to have food there itself, counter is to right. Tokens are issued and you have to go inside. Not much space inside, just serving counter and plastic stools. Don't expect typical hotel style table chairs. I just took a parcel and left. Prices reasonable. Servings medium size. Limited menu. Timings only 11 am - 3 pm I actually wanted to try their sakkare pongal, but already finished by 1:30 pm. Took out puliyogare, palak rice and bisi bele bath. Food good, not too spicy , good taste ( spicy seems to be the trend in Bangalore hotels now a days, this place is not like them). Crowded at peak hours. I went at about 1:30 pm and despite crowd, got parcel in 15 minutes, of course, all rice items, so not cooked after order. Despite unreasonable grumbling by some customers, they kept their cool. It seems that for that price, some people expect five star hotel. I realized that it's impossible to satisfy all people. Have posted pictures of menu, entrance and inside. Just went inside to see how it is, didn't really eat there. If you are expecting regular hotel with table service, spicy oily food, this is not the place. Quick bite of homely food, yes. Last 2 photos are of inside self service area. Parking only on side roads. All narrow roads in that area

TIMINGS: 11 am- 3pm Closed on Sundays What a find! This was a delightful surprise. Located in the heart of Basavanagudi is this 'small-in-size-yet-big-at-heart' eatery that will leave every food lover happy. Mind you! This is no usual Darshini or fancy restaurant that you generally find everywhere, but is a mini eatery with funky decor that oozes with the Old Bengaluru feel. Priced very nominally and aptly for the quantity served, the excellent taste of certain dishes left me asking for more servings, thus justifying the place's name - Eat repEat. Their menu is designed as per the Iyengari Brahmin cuisine and lives up to the reputation the cuisine continues to have among other South Indian cuisines. All the dishes are priced between Rs 20-25/- and makes for a light lunch. The place is designed well with Jagali kattes (Stone benches) for one to sit and savour the food in typical South Bengaluru style. The place is hygienic and is in a residential area. The staff is extremely courteous. They have water stored in maDikes (Mud pots) adding to the feel of the place. Go for it with your friends and families to savour these dishes. Must Try: Kadamba (Iyengari version of Bisibelebath), Puliyogare (Melkote style) and the unmissable, Sakkare Pongal (5 stars just for this dish) P.S: They also sell various condiment items such as happaLa, sanDige, chatnipuDi, uppinkayi among others. Haven't tried them yet, but will do so the next time I visit with my family.

Home-style Iyengar canteen serving authentic delicious Brahmin food! Nestled in the by-lanes of NR Colony is this humble Brahmin’s canteen serving the most delicious South Indian food not to be found anywhere else in Bangalore. Dropped by on a Sunday morning bicycle ride. Ordered a Thatte idli, Masala dosa and Benne Khali dosa. The dosas are soft yet crispy unlike the hard kind found in other Bangalore eateries. Finished the breakfast with a traditional Brahmin filter coffee. The only phrase that adequately describes the food is ‘home-style’. They don’t use garlic or onion in their preparations yet nothing seems to be lacking in flavour. They don’t use cooking soda as well, which is why you won’t feel bloated even after a sumptuous meal. There are no tables or chairs and seating is limited. Place could use some standing tables like the darshini eateries of Bangalore. Drop by if you’re in the mood for authentic Brahmin food!
