Must visit place for authentic Iyengar Food đ Those who don't prefer onion and garlic in their food, can visit this place service basically pure authentic Brahmin food which is basically Iyengari cuisine. You need to try their puliyogare, Ambode, Ullandogare, Kadugogare & sweet pongal. Prices are very very cheap. An awesome place to get a taste of typical Iyengar dishes. Extremely friendly people and they ensure you have a great experience there. The food was just mind blowing and scrumptious. Do drop by the place if you are ever in NR Colony. It's definitely worth it đ One was not enough had to order 2ând plate of Benne pudi thatte idli even when i was not hungry đ€€ this itself sums up my overall experience & the taste of thatte idli. Pudi Thatte Idli and Open Pudi Dosa were tasted and were very good. The puliogare and rice, majjige huli served with balka menshinakai ( dried, salted chilli, fried in oil) is awesome đ We have tasted Akki Rotti, Puliyogare, Benne Pudi Thatte Idly and Sakkare Pongal heređ„° Small eateries are sometimes a boon, especially this one. Having the experience of running a food catering business, this place is serious about taste and keeping it authentic. There is something warm and welcoming about the place, I think its the friendly owners who are behind the counter. Space/seating is limited and I wondered how they manage during peak breakfast/lunch times. The food is fresh, you can tell, unlike those mass produced. We tried the plain/podi thatte idli, the masala dosa, puliyogare and sakrepongal. The flavours are so well balanced, nothing too spicy either. Good food. Very small and tidy place. The owners are very patient and friendly. They serve you with authentic food. If you are visiting on weekends then need to wait a bit more for your orders. Small place with big surprise , home food , simple and tasty food with smiling faces making sure every customer is happy , neat and clean & more over pocket friendly Especially Their sakkare Pongal and Puliyogare are famous around the city đ„° Great food & humble people. The food reminded me of home, warms my heart. Thank you for the great food, annadhata sukhi bhava đ„°đđđđđ€©đđ€€đ€đ Taste 5/5 Serving size 5/5 Price 5/5 Hygiene 5/5 Quality...
Read moreThis is the eatery which is the âtalk of my part of the townâ in the last few weeks. Iâve got WhatsApp forwards of a Video review of this eatery, Iâve seen different people - from Techies to retired officials - heaping praises on this eatery. I visited it on a Saturday afternoon. True to the buzz and hype, the restaurant was full to its brim. It seemed like âparceling the items homeâ is a more popular choice here. There was a long queue at the parcel counter. The owner of the restaurant himself was at the counter and he was also multitasking by helping his employees who were parceling the food. At times he seemed to show glimpses of annoyance and impatience towards the customers due to a sort of unmanageable crowd (quite understandably so !).
Menu had Puliyogare, Sweet Pongal (Iyengarsâ signature dishes), Chapati + Curry, Rice+Majjige Huli, Rice+Kootu, Curd Rice etc.. All these items are reasonably priced. After ordering the parcel items, the wait time was around 30 minutes ! After such a long wait I took home the items (Chapati + Curry, Rice + Majjige Huli and Curd rice) These items tasted good - like simple home cooked food. Iâve nothing to complain except that the quantity of Curry wasnât sufficient for 2 chapatis. At the same time, thereâs no âwownessâ with the taste of the items I had.
So, was the overall experience worth the 30 minute wait ? Was the taste exquisite enough to deserve such hype and buzz this eatery has created ? Unfortunately I donât have a resounding and convincing âYesâ at this time even though I may visit the restaurant in future to taste the other food items Iâve not yet had.
In my opinion, there certainly are many curious âeatersâ at this eatery, but Iâm not certain if thereâs enough that this restaurant offers at this time to turn these âeatersâ into...
