recently stayed at JW Marriott in Bengaluru for a week with my leadership team for a business conference. While my overall stay and hospitality was warm and welcoming, there were some surprising lapses in service that I wouldn’t have expected from a brand of this caliber!!!
The highlights? The little touches that made me feel at home. Payal from JW Kitchen greeted me every morning with a warm smile and recognized my room number by my face. Athili, the lovely housekeeper, did a fresh flower décor on my bed each day and created the most soothing turndown tub service after long workdays. Dinesh from the concierge went above and beyond by bringing me medication when I wasn’t feeling well - even though I had only requested for a cup of cumin seeds. The AYS team was consistently responsive and polite. Laasya from Guest Relations made my day with a sweet JW note and treat for being a Bonvoy member. Sakthi from the wellness center took care of us with genuine kindness during facility maintenance. And Abhishek from housekeeping was always warm and engaging in our interactions!!
Other favorites from my stay included the fantastic breakfast spread, the well-equipped wellness center, pool, and gym, and the beautiful view of Cubbon Park from my room’s balcony. The smiling restaurant staff, who patiently served me without a single frown, truly elevated my experience, and I really appreciate each and everyone from the F&Brb team! They did a fabulous job!!!!
However, there were some aspects that fell short. One day, I returned to my room and found a small dead roach inside a paper bag of breakfast bread I had packed and accidentally left behind. While I can’t say for sure whether it came from the kitchen or the room, it was alarming. Housekeeping was inconsistent with some basic stuffs like one of the trash bins left uncleared, the kettle not cleaned for nearly five days, and essentials like water bottles and glasses were sometimes not restocked. I ignored these, thinking they were one-time misses, but it began to feel like a recurring pattern. At breakfast one day, my simple request for a one-egg cheese masala omelette with chicken sausages got messed up - twice!!!
One particularly disappointing experience was when I arranged a surprise room decoration for the son of our company’s COO (who was also staying there). I had clearly asked the GRM, Sanchita, to inform me once the guests had stepped out before starting the decoration - but she didn’t. The surprise was mishandled. Karan, the RDM, made a kind gesture to redo the setup in another room and added our gift, which I truly appreciated. However, neither he nor the original GRM followed up with me or met me afterward. Sanchita, in particular, didn’t acknowledge the oversight or offer a sincere apology, and I truly feel that she doesn't have the eye for detail that a GRM should have!!
Despite all this, I want to highlight that many team members were truly exceptional - their warmth, smiles, and willingness to go the extra mile made parts of my stay genuinely memorable. But at a JW Marriott, I do expect the basics to be non-negotiable: clean and well-serviced rooms, consistent housekeeping, and accurate attention to guest requests. That’s what defines luxury!!
I hope this feedback helps the team improve and better align guest experiences with the high standards JW is known for!
Would I return? Possibly yes - or maybe not!!! Only time...
Read moreThis review is for the Sunday brunch. We have been club Marriott members since the last 7 years. We have stayed in Marriott properties in India and abroad. We have dined most frequently at JW Marriott Hotel, Bangalore. We have fond memories of the Chef’s table dinner at Alba and our interactions from a couple of years before with this particular Chef at JW Kitchen, who seems to have left the property since.
Our son, 4 years old, loves and enjoys dining out. He is accustomed to the ways of fine dine as well. He particularly enjoys the brunch at JW Kitchen thanks to the balloon artist and the lady artist with the children activities who comes with him. He has previously spent full 2 hours at the little chair, making fun crafts and colouring various sheets.
Today, our experience was quite bad. The lady artist was downright rude to our son, a 4 year old. When we reached the craft table, she did not make a move to talk to him or make him comfortable in anyway. Once we asked her for some activities for him, after standing around while she did nothing, she reluctantly pulled out a printed sheet and gave it to my son. A while later, my son went to her again. There was only one free chair on which she had kept her bag and bottles. We waited, standing around again. My wife had to ask her to please remove it so my son can sit on it. My son saw a kid next to him colouring a cut out of a paper cup made into a flower. He asked for the same. She refused to give it to him. My wife and son waited for 10-15 mins, standing idle, while she continued to hand paint another girl. She could have stopped doing the painting, given my son the paper cup and carried on. My wife had to request her for a colouring sheet while she finished the painting, again. A little while later, I took my son to the crafts table. There were no chairs available. We’re standing waiting. This lady asks me “Is he not going to eat? He’s been here all along”. Isn’t she getting paid to keep the little kids entertained? I told her he is eating, thank you. Mind, she is yet to give a simple paper cup to my son. She goes on to make a show of cutting the paper cup into a flower, for a full 10 minutes. I walk away towards the end. My wife goes to check on my son a few minutes later, and what do you know! My son is STILL sitting quietly, asking “ma’am please give”. She has kept away the cut and ready flower, not giving it to my 4 year old!
Just because you are an adult does not mean that you cannot bully an innocent child. There are more than one way of making a child feel small.
This experience has left a painful memory with us. Please choose your support...
Read moreI having been traveling for business for more than 20 years and have had a strong brand loyalty to the current Marriott Bonvoy program but would be hard pressed to think of a more poorly managed property than the JW Marriott in Bangalore. I decided to forego where I normally stay in Bangalore and try JW Marriott across from UB City at my staff recommendation. The location is great at Cubbon Park, UB City, MG Road and the property is tastefully decorated and well appointed and furnished... and that is about all anyone can say positive about this hotel. Bad food and presentation in the lounge, staff with indifferent attitude at the front desk, breakfast where they cook whatever they want, not what you request, and housekeeping that comes at the end of the day. To top it all off, once they realize they have messed up or given bad service or food, the staff then harasses you constantly to let you know they are now paying attention. Its like the staff are stalking you so you don't escalate the matter. Without going into details, service and food here are ate of poor standard and quality. When you go to raise these issues to management, they send the Front Desk Mgr, not the GM or mgmt, to resolve the issues. How do they do that? Don't ask what happened, they don't care, and they offer you 10,000 points to shut up and keep quiet. Funny thing though, they said they credited 10,000 points to my Bonvoy account but they were never credited!!! Wont let you speak with the GM, don't want the details, promise you points and then never give. 5 star prices for poor customer service, bad food and no hospitality (it is great however if you want staff to stalk you endlessly, asking you if you are ok). I will not stay here again, and will escalate to Marriott Bonvoy the poor service at this property. This place is a profound disappointment to anyone with discerning standards and I advise exploring all options before going to this property pretending to be a 5 star destination. Spend you r money somewhere there is good value, and there are many places in...
