Melange — Hotel in Bengaluru

STAY AWAY! Not even a proper business hotel/service appartment. Don't go by the photos. Inside a residential building.

Tried the place recently. Not even a proper service appartment/hotel. Just a few rooms inside one of the buildings in a small gated society.

As such they have archaic rules and restrictions regarding guest and visitors. Had to literally beg the staff and hand over IDs of my visitors to be allowed entry for my friends. Even then they kept calling and asking them to leave. These were adults who just came over so that we could catch up over dinner together.

They will keep telling you this is their policy but like other reviewers have mentioned pls make it visible and known to people on booking sites as well not just one large plaque at the reception. They know just as well how many people would go ahead with their booking if they knew the truth about this place.

Apart from this, the place has musty corridors and damp rooms. As other reviewers have already mentioned, the toilets are not in great condition - hot water and working flushes are a luxury they don't provide. Not to mention cheerful staff - one thing you will most definitely NOT FIND here.

There are other better places that do justice to the location, provide apt service and deserve to say that they are in the business of hospitality.

EDIT: Saw the response from the property, hence replying. Thank you very much Sir for not responding to the actual review and trying to twist facts. Your "property" (I'm being generous calling it that) is part of a gated community and is in a residential building - and hence governed by the association rules of the building. Do not try to pass off that as an industry norm. No hospitality partner with their own property has such problems with VISITORS.

Even the terms that you have put up online only says - "Does not allow private parties or events" (not GET TOGETHERS - as you mentioned" Also you have not mentioned that visitors are not allowed, you have written that "Visitors are not allowed after 10:30PM" - I have copy pasted from your Makemytrip page. Anyways I am not the first person to face this problem, there are other reviewers mentioning the same issue.

Also IMP guest tip for anyone booking this place - updating from my last visit: make sure you don't stay on the ground floor; they have staff, drivers, random people outside the windows - quite weird, uncomfortable and not suitable...

In the past 6 months my travel back to India has been frequent. This time we had some business meetings we needed to attend in Bangalore and were visiting for a day and a half. One of our group member identified Melange as the location based on reviews to be spot for us to stay overnight. Here are some of my observations from value for money and service perspective:

Basic expectation with most locations at stay especially if they are advertised as business friendly is availability of internet connection. Was there internet at this place? Yes. But one could only connect max of 2 devices per apartment. We had 2 guests staying per apartment (total of 4). With a min of one mobile device each and one laptop each makes the device counts required to connect to internet are 4. We struggled to convince the office staff basic expectations. Ultimately, they did enable 4 devices off which 3 could stay connected the 4th could not as they were bound by credentials and recorded MAC addresses of the devices. Someone in the IT department went a little overboard. Internet speed was poor. Cleanliness - the apartment overall though looked clean, the washrooms were smelling like someone recently took a dump and did not flush. Curtains and other accessories were unclean. Except for Airtel, other cell phone connections had no bars. So once you are in the apartment, you were at the mercy of having active internet connection via WiFi which as explained in the first point is already a challenge Staff was willing to help when requested for anything and was generally welcoming, and the one star is contributed to their presence and willingness to support, else it would ideally be a 0 star rating.

Compare this with any other airbnb or hotel reservations you would have for short or longer term rentals, internet connectivity and cleanliness are basic expectations for anyone that is traveling and needs a place to stay. For these rental places, it is important to understand that experience a customer goes through as well and ensure they have aptly set-up to deliver...

Melange opposite UB city (in the heart of the city) has been an excellent serviced apartment styled accommodation to stay with the family during our move back to India & to Bangalore recently. During our 3 week stay we came across several warm and efficient team members of the staff. Whilst the apartments are fairly well laid out the daily house keeping service made much of a difference for a comfortable stay with change of sheets and towels daily. Cubbon park just a walk away is perfect for your morning walks and so also an array of high quality food and beverage outlets around you. On the downside the internet provided by the hotel was of very poor standard and disappointing. On most days it did not work. To make matters worse even the mobile phone data did not work properly due to poor signal strengths in the apartments. The bathrooms are small. More cooking utensils are required in the Kitchen such as a non stick pan rather than the one which was provided. Overall we would recommend this place for short and long stay apartment style provided these important areas of concern are attended to. Standout employee of the hotel was Mohammed at the reception for whom nothing was too much trouble...
