Recent Experience
This iconic and the most recognisable fine dine was our choice for a luncheon to start the year with a Big Bang. Visited here in 1st Jan 2025 for lunch and the food as always was exceptionally great, but the service however was loaded with a slight dose of sarcasm. Not sure what caused it, but the senior service staff who took our order seemed dismissive of our choices and kept warning us about the portion sizes, while I repeatedly pointed out there we usually go heavy on starters and go light on mains, and share one or two instead of ordering one each and end up wasting it. There was a fair load of snide remarks that was nearly rude, not wanting to spoil a family dinner, we left without confronting promising to never return here even though we love the good here.
Not our first visit here and looking back we had a similar experience in our last visit too, with the same person, it’s just that we brushed it off as over-friendly intrusive service, but this time it was borderline rude and simply not good service
Old review
Have always wanted to take my family to Shiro, as it is a place that I enjoyed visiting earlier, especially all that drama around the Teppenyaki, their fantastic Sushi offering and that wonderful ambience, with super high ceilings and the decor.
Recently I managed to take them for dinner and the overall experience was absolutely fantastic. Kicked off the meal with a sweetcorn chicken soup, with a most perfect consistency, thickness, that started as something that was extremely salty to consume, that we had to send it back. The revised version lacked the same consistency, however was a delicious version that we enjoyed thoroughly.
Paired with it was a light as air prawn tempura, with a delicious crunch that we loved the most, and the pairing house-sauce was thin yet packed a punch. We are already missing this and considering our next visit soon.
Next on the pick was a gyoza, which traditionally is a pan fried japanese dumpling, but I missed the warning in the menu that this non-traditional version is just steamed and not fried after. So though initially disappointed, I enjoyed this thin dumpling with a neatly packed overload of juicy, flavoursome chicken mince, highly recommended.
We did ask for a peach iced team that was refreshing and lovely, and a bit too tangy, hence we had to ask for some extra sugar syrup that we balanced the drink with.
The portions of all the dishes were too much for this pack of three, so we contemplated between ordering a main course to share or another starter, and we went with a Kung Pao Chicken skewer. There was a huge delay as we kept waiting, assuming that they had forgotten our order, and tried to remind them and after a good 20 minutes our skewers came super hot and fresh. The chicken thigh used in the juicy skewers were a perfect cut, and served almost in a yakitori style. Though the first bite was a bit sweet, the spice kicked in later, making it a dish on point for our taste, loved it thoroughly, but nothing beats the Prawn tempura.
With the salty soup that got fixed and the minor order mixup with another table, we absolutely loved the whole experience, including the service, we were a happy bunch to have had a wonderful meal to end the day and are definitely visiting them again, shortly #apjprecommends
On an afterthought, we noticed that our bottled kinley water was priced at a premium of 120, which I found quite odd, especially in the recent...
Read moreShiro, located in Bengaluru, is undeniably an enchanting restaurant that promises an immersive dining experience. From its captivating ambiance to the exquisite fusion of Asian flavors, this establishment has much to offer. While my overall experience at Shiro was delightful, there were a few areas where improvements could be made.
Let's start with the positives. The moment I stepped into Shiro, I was immediately captivated by the elegant and contemporary decor. The blend of modern elements with traditional Asian touches created an inviting and sophisticated atmosphere. The dimly lit interior, complemented by ambient music, set the stage for a memorable evening.
The menu at Shiro offers a diverse range of Asian cuisines, and I must commend the culinary expertise showcased in their dishes. The flavors were well-balanced, and the presentation was impeccable. From the sushi rolls to the stir-fried noodles, each dish was a testament to the skill and creativity of the chefs.
However, the service experience at Shiro was a bit disappointing. Upon being seated, I had to wait for approximately 15 minutes before a server approached my table to take my order. The waitstaff seemed overwhelmed and rushed, indicating a shortage of staff. While I understand that unforeseen circumstances can occur, a 45-minute wait for my Udon noodles to arrive was unexpected. It was disheartening to have such a long delay, especially considering the restaurant's reputation.
I would like to emphasize that the quality of the food was commendable once it finally arrived. The Udon noodles were cooked to perfection, offering a delightful chewiness and a rich umami broth. The accompanying ingredients were fresh and flavorful, elevating the dish. However, the extended waiting time left a lingering sense of dissatisfaction.
Despite the service shortcomings, the management at Shiro should consider addressing the issue of understaffing to ensure a smoother and more efficient dining experience. The addition of more attentive and prompt servers would greatly enhance the overall experience for patrons.
It is important to note that the ambiance and quality of the food overshadowed the service hiccups. The restaurant's dedication to creating a visually stunning and gastronomically satisfying experience was evident. The extensive drink menu, featuring creative cocktails and an impressive selection of spirits, further enhanced the dining experience.
In conclusion, Shiro offers an alluring dining experience with its captivating ambiance and delectable Asian fusion cuisine. While the shortage of staff impacted the service during my visit, the quality of the food and the overall ambiance compensated for the shortcomings. I would recommend Shiro to those seeking an elegant dining experience, with the hope that the management will address the staffing issue to provide a more seamless and enjoyable...

The ambiance here is effortlessly sophisticated—calm lighting, tasteful decor, and a lovely mix of quiet luxury and laid-back ease. The staff was extremely courteous and attentive, adding to the overall comfort. While service was smooth, the dishes did take a bit longer than expected to arrive.
Drinks We Tried: Shanghai Sunset – Tequila, vodka, melon liqueur, pineapple & cranberry juice; fruity, refreshing and tropical. Yamaguchi Sunset – A beautifully balanced mix of gin, Triple Sec, burnt orange, vanilla, and peach. A must-try! Crimson Bride – Vodka, Malibu, watermelon, and banana cream—sweet and smooth.
