Stepping into the Indian Coffee House on Church Street in Bangalore is like taking a delightful trip down memory lane. The cafe's old-fashioned setup exudes a charm that's hard to come by in today's modern eateries. The ambiance, reminiscent of a bygone era, instantly invokes a sense of nostalgia. The waiters, dressed in their traditional uniforms that are iconic across various Indian cities, add to the authentic experience.

The Indian Coffee House manages to capture the essence of its past while maintaining the quality and taste of its offerings. The cutlet is a true blast from the past, carrying the same flavors that delighted taste buds in the 90s. It's heartening to know that even as times change, some things remain wonderfully constant. The relocation of the M G Road branch to the adjacent street seems to have preserved the essence of its predecessor.

The Masala Dose is another gem on their menu, delivering the same satisfying taste that has delighted generations. And let's not forget the crown jewel – the coffee. Indian Coffee House has mastered the art of brewing that perfect cup of coffee that has left its patrons craving for more over the years.

However, it's perplexing to see that the management of Indian Coffee House hasn't fully tapped into its immense potential. The authenticity and nostalgia this place offers could undoubtedly be capitalized upon with strategic marketing efforts.

One glaring concern is the cleanliness of the hand wash and kitchen areas. In a time when hygiene is paramount, these areas should be maintained meticulously to ensure the safety and comfort of the customers. A little attention to these aspects would go a long way in enhancing the overall experience.

Another area that deserves attention is the payment methods. In an era dominated by digital transactions, it's surprising that Indian Coffee House only accepts cash. The inclusion of options like UPI, credit cards, and debit cards would undoubtedly make transactions smoother and more convenient for customers.

In conclusion, the Indian Coffee House on Church Street in Bangalore is a true haven for those seeking a nostalgic culinary experience. The flavors that transport you to the 90s, the traditional uniforms, and the heartwarming ambiance all contribute to an unforgettable visit. While there's room for improvement in certain areas like hygiene maintenance and payment options, the overall experience remains a testament to the beauty of preserving tradition in a rapidly...

Visited the legendary Indian coffee house.

A word of caution, you need to have a very strong stomach if you are going to eat here.

I agree the old vibe is there but the place is very unhygienic, there was some brown dirt on my fork.

key tip:if you want to eat here don’t look into the kitchen 😂.

Anyway moving on.

We ordered the following

Plain dosa. Scrambled eggs on toast. Veg cutlet. Cold coffee. Rose milk.

The dosa was below average and had this old oil taste to it, which was quite off putting however the consistency was good. I give it a 3/10.

The scrambled eggs were perfect, However my toast was soggy like a wet sponge. I give it a 4/10.

The veg cutlet was good, have a good crunch to it and was not oily, just the way I like it, however it was accompanied by a thick tomato sauce which looked like Kissan jam and it tasted like jam too. I give it 5/10.

The cold coffee was not good, it had some particles floating on top of it. I give it 3/10.

The rose milk was honestly good, perfect amount of sweetness and was refreshing. I give it 7/10.

What I liked about the place: It has an old vibe to it. 2 some of the old/vintage signs on the wall although there are just a few.

What I didn’t like: Place is very unhygienic. They don’t accept card or gpay as a mode of payment. Food is below average at least what i ordered.

Would I visit here again ? As of now, no. If they clean up the place, especially the kitchen, I...

One the talk of the town of every big city or small town, the Indian Coffee House is situated at the heart of the MG Road and I recently visited the Indian Coffee House Bangalore with my wife in the morning, she had to take a metro from the MG Road station to JP Nagar.

I can honestly say, I tasted my first dosa and idli as a child in the Indian Coffee House in my hometown Satna, and we as a family used to visit this inexpensive yet a great place mostly on Sundays for dinner.

All the memories started coming back as I entered the place, the same costumes the waiters were wearing, working people sitting and talking together waiting for their idlis and coffee to come.

That idli, that dosa in the white plate along with the sambhar in a small bowl was all it took for me, to remember my childhood days.

I loved the dosa, the crispiness was almost similar to what we prepare in our homes and the vadas were nice too.

I can say this place is the most affordable place in the most expensive area, and in my opinion the government should take certain steps for upliftment of the Indian Coffee House in almost all the cities.

Though I was overwhelmed by the nostalgia, I would still recommend that the place should be given an overhaul in terms of fresh paint and new tiles and better washing areas .

Overall a lovely experience to cherish, if you have been to one as a...

India Coffee House across locations in India is such an icon and a legendary space for not just coffee but a variety of food and I have always wanted to try them for a long time. One such occasion turned up when I happened to be in Church Street for lunch and I popped in here for a cup of coffee and a light snack of a vegetable cutlet. Service is friendly and the tenured, seasoned and uniformed service team is always smiling and helpful. My cutlet arrived superhot with a squeezy of tomato sauce and some fresh cut onions on the side. One bite and I was transported to a memory of my first ever cutlet back when I was a little boy in Geetha Cafe, Chennai. It was one of the finest versions of the potato mash with green peas, breaded and deep fried. This dark coloured deep fried goodness is something that I had to come back to, probably for the non-vegetarian versions. The coffee was ok and probably I may not come back just for that, it was a decent coffee, but not a South Indian filter kaapi, so I was mildly disappointed. I trust the place is run by the India Coffee Board as an attempt to promote coffee in India and some of the locations have been regularly visited by the literary elite of India, or so I have heard. Pricing was decent for a cutlet and coffee. I paid 95 including taxes, a decent binge that I might just visit, hopefully soon.
