Their name carries it way further than it should. Sunny's had been around for a long time now and I used to be a frequent visitor when they were across the road in the old location when it was one of the few places with the likes of Spiga that would serve good Continental food. The food now we found to be quite average. We ordered a spaghetti aglio olio and a mahi mahi fish with fresh orange juice and red sula wine. ( This was the only wine available from their long list of wines in the menu). The spaghetti came without salt, when I pointed this out to the server he asked me to use the salt shaker on the table lol.. it was only when he saw my irritated expression to his out of the box suggestion that he offered to take it back and season it again. Big mistake it came back salty now and I didn't want to send it back. The Mahi mahi fish was also average, the cook got over generous with the butter and there was butter and sauce heaped on the plate. The fresh orange juice.. really pathetic.. the road side stalls make better one's. We decided to try some dessert against our better judgement and again from the long list of desserts displayed in the menu there were only a select few available. We ordered the chocolate cake.. the taste was good but unfortunately someone in their hurry forgot to remove the broken egg shells and we kept finishing but if shell in bites. The server thankfully decided to not charge is for this. Overall it was quite a let down and not expected from a place like Sunny's. I would not think of going here again.. if that's the kind of food and service I can expect for my money.. (quite expensive). You may have better luck than me. Oh and I must mention this is a pet friendly restaurant.. not my idea of a good meal as I'm not too comfortable with pooches moving around me while I'm...
Read moreBeautiful location, lovely ambience, great music, fantastic staff but the food was a bit of a mixed bag. Have visited Sunny’s quite a few times and loved the desserts and Salads there, however this time went there for the main courses.
Ambience: (5/5) This is such a great place to dine in the city, the trees and the beautiful interiors are a real treat to sit at. The balconies and the pleasant lighting all make this a top dining experience. Great deal of seating, both inside and out as well as balcony seating.
Food: (3/5) The food this time around was a mixed bag for us. We requested for more spicy options, starting with the Thai Chicken - which unfortunately had quite a strong seafood smell and flavour that didn’t appeal to my friends and I ended up finishing the dish. It was a little on the stronger side. The pasta was the best dish of the night which was a veg pasta in white sauce. The spicy chicken steak ended up being more sweet than spicy similar to the Chicken starter. Finally the Steak Fillet, though looked beautiful, was not quite up to the mark as it was far more on the rare side than medium which I repeated requested for, making it a tad harder for me to eat it. Honestly, it might have just been an off day. Sunny’s is brilliant and worth a visit for the desserts and salads, they do however need to recheck the main courses on offer.
Summary: (3/5) Has a wonderful ambience and great service. Certainly worth a visit, I can back the dessert offerings more than main course for now. Needs a bit of...
Read moreI recently visited Sunnys Restaurant at 50, Lavelle Road, Shanthala Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560001 on 🗓 Date: 3 October 2025 ⏰ Time: 9 PM based on friends’ recommendations, but my experience was disappointing. The ambiance and menu looked great — lots of options, including 15+ dessert choices — but the service was a mess.
We ordered pasta and a beef steak, asking for dishes to be served as they were ready. The steak arrived cold, tough, and chewy — clearly not freshly prepared. When I raised this with the manager, he said steaks take 30–40 minutes. Yes, preparation takes time, but serving cold food is unacceptable.
The manager then told us “please leave” — rude, unprofessional, and not how paying customers should be treated. Observing the staff, it was clear the problem was systemic: many staff seemed frustrated, uncooperative, and unwilling to support the manager. This lack of teamwork directly affected food quality and service.
I’m not blaming the manager entirely — the staff’s behavior made his job difficult. But the way the situation was handled left a very negative impression.
I’m sharing this review to help the restaurant improve and prevent future customers from facing the same disappointment. With proper staff cooperation and accountability, Sunnys Restaurant can restore the quality it was known for. Hopefully, management sees this, takes responsibility, and makes...
