We were on our way to another hotel for breakfast, but it was closed. A couple of locals saw our faces of disappointment, and - after a quick glance to each other, as if they were unsure about sharing a long-kept secret - they pointed towards Segar Hotel Hampi. And my oh my, what a treat this was! It was packed with locals (a good sign) with smiles on their faces while eating (a great sign). So we sat and got two our favorite things: idli and paddu… and they did not disappoint - they were delicious! So much so that I learned how to say “delicious” in Kannada, just to make sure the wonderful ladies who manage and operate this place could understand me. Oh, yea, that’s another perk: this place is operated and managed by 4 lovely Indian ladies. 5 stars...
Read moreHighly hospitable service from the mom and son duo here in Hotel Sagar, near Virupaksha Temple, Hampi. Felt like home to be precise, we were a student group on a study tour with tight itineraries, and trying out native cuisines and having good food was an obvious team objective, that started with the famous Paddu here, in Hampi. The Paddu with chutney is a must try dish for breakfast, worth your time and money for the early morning fresh energy that this breakfast spot gives out in the streets near Virupaksha Temple. Made friends with the other diners and the man himself too....

I hail from Mumbai but the dosa in mumbai is 1/10 and the dosa here is 10/10...the chutney here is 100/10 a year later the taste is still fresh and I cannot wait to visit hampi again..the chai most amazing thing you will try..mthe idli...the aapan...the dosa the paniyaram (forgivness for spelling) nothing like this...thank you for the awesome service :) was too busy eating so dint have...
