Never again will I visit Bab Arabia. A restaurant which somehow manages to get a great rating.
Me and my friend got there at around 9:30PM and they said they were open. We sat down and then they tell us after 10 mins that they only have Chinese available. REMINDER: This is an "arabic food" restaurant. After we said we did not come here for Chinese food. They said they will check what else is available. They come back to us after 5 mins and tell us that they have some kebabs available. We said "Great" and started to browse their kebab section. Post which, they bring to our attention that they only have three types available. We ordered two out of those three choices. When I read the Kebab descriptions on the menu. They all had different fancy names, but similar descriptions. I asked them why ? And if they are fooling us with fancy names. The server and laughed and said "ofcourse not, these are all very different kebabs with different preparations". I said okay hesitantly and carried on with our order, which was the adana and patliana kebab and we ordered some bread.
As the food came, we asked for some arabic style sauces on the side. They said they only have mayonnaise. Already disappointed by their selection, we prayed that the food atleast would atleast compensate for the disappointing experience thus far. But alas, that was far from the truth. Instead, we got both our kebab orders and as we took the first bite of the brinjal in the patliana kebab dish. It was cold, unseasoned and semi raw. We then went on to eat the kebabs and to our surprise, both kebab dishes were the exact same meat, BUT JUST MADE INTO DIFFERENT SHAPES. Can you believe that????. Look at the pictures for yourself. The audacity of a established restaurant that basically tried fooling two customers with two different dishes made from the exact same preparation but just in different shapes. We could not eat any further and displayed our dissatisfaction to the manager and staff. They apologized and that was it. After that, they still made us pay for the whole bill. What a pitiful way to end our long day of work. Distasteful customer service and just disheartening to say the...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to dine at this restaurant and while the overall experience was decent, I was left disappointed by the quality and value of the beef rib I ordered. The hotel certainly has potential, but there are areas that require improvement, particularly in terms of their food offerings.
Let's start with the beef rib itself. Although it was cooked adequately, I found the taste to be quite average. Considering the high price I paid for this dish, I expected something more exceptional. I have had better beef ribs at other restaurants that charged half the price. The lack of flavor and tenderness was disappointing, and it left me longing for a more satisfying dining experience.
Given that the hotel aims to provide a premium culinary experience, I strongly suggest that they focus on improving the quality of their food. It is crucial for a high-end establishment to consistently deliver outstanding dishes that justify the premium prices they charge. Enhancing the flavors, tenderness, and overall presentation of their beef rib would be a step in the right direction.
While the disappointing beef rib overshadowed my dining experience, I must mention that the other aspects of the hotel were satisfactory. The ambiance was pleasant, and the service provided by the staff was attentive and friendly. However, when it comes to dining, it is the food that ultimately leaves a lasting impression, and in this case, it fell short of my...
Read moreBab Arabia is such an amazing socialising space that also happens to serve some of the best Arabian dishes in the town.
The place is palatial and is set across two floors, one exclusive for dining and the higher and the larger floor doubling as a hookah/sheesha dining lounge. The place is set to make you feel cozy, and you are well removed from the ruckus happening outside.
The staff are hospitable and you’ll appreciate how well they tend to you.
Menu is quite expansive, and the dishes are priced at reasonable-to-moderate rates.
The hookah/sheesha options will be sufficient, with a good number of choices in both single and double flavoured ranges. The Green Apple was really good, while the others that I’ve tried were not so bad either.
The dishes are delicious, especially their Kapama (Chicken was phenomenal, Beef was just as good but the former was the best hands down). Barbeque Chicken Wings were also delicious and righty juicy. Their Mayo Dip was perhaps one among the best and freshest I’ve been served.
There are quite a few choices in the drinks department, which I’d recommend you combine with your hookah/sheesha. Queen Mary, Red Berry were the personal favourites in the juices/mocktails section.
Bab Arabia is perfect for the people who’d like to spend extended time with their companions, and enjoy some really good tasting...
