A Legendary Culinary Experience - Kayees Rahmathulla Hotel Review 🍴
Rating: 5/5 stars ⭐️
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kayees Rahmathulla Hotel, an iconic Indian restaurant in Kochi, Kerala, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience 😍. This legendary eatery has been serving up culinary magic since 1948, and its fame has spread far and wide 🔥.
The story of Kayees Rahmathulla Hotel is one of passion and dedication 💕. Founded by V. K. Kayee, a man who worked tirelessly to perfect his craft, the restaurant has become synonymous with delicious Mutton Biryani 🍚. Kayee's journey from a humble cook and waiter in the British Army to the owner of a beloved restaurant is a testament to his hard work and determination 💪.
The Mutton Biryani, affectionately known as Kayikka's Biryani, is a must-try dish 🤩. Made with love and care, this flavorful masterpiece is a symphony of spices, meat, and rice 🎶. Each bite is a revelation, with the tender mutton and aromatic spices melding together in perfect harmony 🌈.
But Kayees Rahmathulla Hotel is more than just a one-dish wonder 🤔. The restaurant offers a range of mouth-watering dishes, each made with the same love and care as the famous biryani 🍴. From the flavorful curries to the tender tandoori dishes, every bite is a delight 😋.
The restaurant's atmosphere is warm and welcoming 🏠, with friendly staff and a cozy decor that makes you feel right at home 🏡. Whether you're a local or a visitor, Kayees Rahmathulla Hotel is a must-visit destination 📍.

Tips:
Must-try: Mutton Biryani 🍚 Try the flavorful curries and tandoori dishes too 🍴 Visit the original hotel in Mattancherry for a nostalgic experience 📍 Friendly staff, so don't hesitate to ask for...
Read moreI had an opportunity to visit the Ernakulam branch, around 3 weeks ago; and although I didn't get a chance to eat and all, as it was a visit for a different purpose, my God in Heaven, there was that sweetly divine, all too familiar and quite blissfully nostalgic aroma in the air, enchanting all who can breathe...aa nalla dhum pottich kayumbollulla smell...took me back to my childhood days, man (38 and ancient now)!
As a side note, I tried the original Mattancherry spot today but 'twas quite different, unlike the good ol' days, so was tad disappointing.
It seems Kayikkade spirit left Mattancherry spot and has become the guardian angel at the Ernakulam spot. Time does change everything, eh?...makes us feel as ancient relics and all that.
Update...
Had their biriyani today. Utter waste! I was born and raised in Mattancherry, and I have had original Kayikka's biriyani many a time. That original location has gone downhill. I thought, smelling the aroma, this Ernakulam location would be better but just as looks can be deceiving, i learnt today that even scents can be! Those who have had Kayikka's biriyani when Kayikka was alive will know that neither place now offers that trademark taste and quality anymore; varuthar know nothing because they have heard of Kayikka only recently. Avoid! If you want the best biriyani in Kochi, go to Rahumaniya at Marine Drive; yes, that big shiny busy building of a spot itself. Their biriyani is, for now atleast, the best biriyani in all the towns in Kerala; those who claim otherwise know nothing of biriyani!
What a tragedy; a legend gone and thus a behemoth of a mighty culinary institution hath fallen spectacularly! Time truly is the cruelest of...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Kayees Hotel and trying their Mutton Biriyani and Chicken 65. Overall, it was a satisfying experience, with the biriyani being the highlight of my meal.
The Mutton Biriyani at Kayees Hotel was truly exceptional. The aromatic flavors and the tender, succulent pieces of mutton were a delight to savor. The rice was perfectly cooked and had a wonderful blend of spices that added depth to every bite. It was evident that the biriyani was prepared with care and expertise, making it a standout dish.
However, I must mention that the Chicken 65 didn't quite live up to my expectations. While it had a crispy exterior, the flavor fell short. The chicken lacked the perfect balance of spices and was slightly underwhelming. It didn't match the level of excellence set by the biriyani.
The service at Kayees Hotel was prompt and courteous. The staff members were friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, creating a comfortable atmosphere for guests.
In terms of improvements, I would suggest that the restaurant pays more attention to the seasoning and flavors of the Chicken 65 to match the high standards set by their exceptional biriyani.
Overall, I would highly recommend Kayees Hotel for their remarkable Mutton Biriyani. It's a dish that truly stands out and is worth a visit. Just be aware that the Chicken 65 might not meet the same level...
