A Grand Name, A Deeply Disappointing Reality
The Promise vs. The Reality: A Stark Contrast
The illustrious name of this hotel sets a very high expectation, promising an experience of refined quality and sophistication. Based solely on this name, I expected greatness. Unfortunately, the reality was a profound letdown, falling dramatically short of the prestige its title suggests.
Ambiance: The Sole Saving Grace
I will concede that the setting has its moments. The grounds feature scattered ponds surrounded by verdant foliage, which provide scattered hints of charm and a sense of tranquility. This is the hotel's single strongest asset, creating a pleasant first impression that is, sadly, quickly dismantled.
The Culinary Catastrophe: Overpriced and Underwhelming
This is where the experience unravels completely. The culinary experience left much to be desired is a generous understatement. The menu is exorbitantly priced, yet the flavors are bland, uninspired, and utterly stagnant. It feels less like fine dining and more like a costly, mediocre imitation. Prices soared, yet flavors stagnated—a perfect summary of the injustice on the plate.
Service: An Exercise in Indifference
The disappointing food was only compounded by the shockingly poor service. The waitstaff seemed reluctant to serve, as if burdened by the guests they catered to. There was no warmth, no attentiveness, and a palpable sense that we were an inconvenience. It was a masterclass in indifference.
Finally- Wasted Potential
While the restaurant boasts a prime location, it squanders this advantage completely with subpar food and indifferent service. The gap between what this hotel could be and what it actually is, is vast.
There's ample room for improvement if the hotel hopes to redeem itself. Until significant changes are made, particularly in the kitchen and with staff training, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone. A truly forgettable experience hiding behind a...
Read moreI had the opportunity to stay at this property during a recent business trip, and my overall experience was quite satisfactory. The hotel offers a decent stay option, balancing comfort, accessibility, and value for money. The rooms are designed with an old-style theme, which may not appeal to those looking for a modern ambiance, but they are well maintained, clean, and adequately equipped for both business and leisure travelers. The housekeeping staff ensures that the rooms remain tidy and comfortable throughout the stay, which left me impressed. One of the highlights of this hotel is the staff. They are courteous, cooperative, and attentive to guest needs, which adds significantly to the overall hospitality experience. Whether it was addressing minor requests or providing local guidance, the staff handled everything with professionalism and warmth. The in-house restaurant deserves mention as well. It offers a pure vegetarian menu, which is an advantage for those who prefer this cuisine. However, the pricing is slightly on the higher side, and while the food quality is decent, there is room for improvement in terms of flavor atleast, especially given the premium charged. From a location perspective, the hotel is very well situated. It offers easy access to one of the city’s most renowned tourist attractions, Marine Drive, making it a convenient choice for travelers who want to explore the city after work hours or during a leisure trip.Overall, I would recommend this property for both business and personal stays. While the restaurant could enhance its value proposition, the well-maintained rooms, cooperative staff, and excellent location ensure that the stay experience is pleasant and worth the...
Read moreWould have rated less than 1 if possible. This hotel has lost its charm. We were a group of 5 ppl who came from guruvayur and booked 2 nights at this hotel to visit temples around Ernakulam. The staff is very rude and disrespectful. 1)The WiFi was not working and when called the reception they said it works for them so it is a device problem. We explained it does not work for all of us and also asked if there was a limit on number of users for which they said No then they called us back after 5 minutes saying there is a limit. These ppl have no idea about their own set up. 2) Room service is equally pathetic. We had elderly people who cannot walk so we ordered just coffee to our room.we had to wait for 45 minutes and 3 reminders to get it delivered. Same was the case for dine in. We waited the same amount of time for just 4 ghee dosa. 3)The lifts do not work if any party is hosted. For the 2 nights that we stayed there was a party and the lift was blocked by them.we had to take the stairs. Elderly people struggled a lot. When asked the reception they said it is how it is. So ppl who book rooms and pay money should let go off their privilege to use lifts. 4) Rooms do not have any soap, dental kit or the regular complimentary coffee sachets and we need to call them every time and wait for them to deliver. When asked they said we need to ask them even if it is their responsibility to set up rooms with the basic amenities. 5) Room bedsheets are very dirty and looks like not cleaned at all. On the whole worst hotels and will not recommend or stay...
