If you love classy vintage decor, look no further than Hogg's Room. Beautiful is the word describes this place best. Located on the first floor of Lindsey Hotel, their Italian marble floor, glass chandelier, iron cast tables and chairs, old telephone and vintage clock makes you stare for a moment at the ambiance.
Staffs and Management Staffs here are very friendly and very well behaved. Decency is the word describes them best. They welcomed us with a complimentary pink drink and it was very sweet in nature, another nice gesture from them.
Food and Drinks Fish N Chips @ Rs.195 (4/5) : 2 medium sized fish fries served in traditional style with french fries and mayonnaise dip. Fries felt crispy and fish inside tasted very decent.
Roasted Chicken Pizza @ Rs.150 (4/5) : 7" small pizza sliced into 4 pieces topped with lots of Chicken slices and cheese. Pizza crust was very decent and overall it tasted good.
We enjoyed both of the dishes with Kingfisher Ultra and Budweiser Lager, both were served chill with a bowl of peanuts unlike junk foods served by other restaurants.
Pricing One thing I must say, usually many bar set food prices excessively high like 395+ for most of the dishes in the intention of making more money from consumers. But here the food prices are set very well and affordable. Beers were priced at Rs.325 and our total bill was Rs.1044 including 2 of them.
Conclusion Everything with my favourite drink and good quality food in this wonderful ambiance, couldn't resist myself from giving this place 5 star. If you're looking for a vintage restaurant to spend quality time with good food and drink in budget, this is probably the best option you have in New...
Read moreA beautiful little restaurant with decent food and pocket friendly prices.
The place is decorated in old kolkata theme and looks and feels really good. The staff is courteous and the place is cozy.
I ordered,
Masala tea - You can't really go wrong with packaged tea bag and a DIY system so the restaurant is not responsible for the good/bad tea. Nevertheless the tea was good and all tea lovers must give it a try. Remember to balance the sugar to milk ratio and you're good to go.
Shen-shah pizza - The pizza tasted good. The chicken was tender and the pizza sauce was excellent actually. The only complaint being that the pizza was served cold and the cheese was therefore all thick and stiff. The actually essence of a good pizza comes is the oozyness of the chees which was absolutely missing. That was a let down.
The Hot melt - The lanb was very tender, the fries were decent and the sandwich as a whole tasted really good. It was absolutely a delight. Loved it and highly recommend it.
The chocolate fudge - Definitely not the absolute best but surely it is one of the best I have had. The cake tasted good , perfect amount of sweetness not overpowering just what is desired. And you can't really go wrong with the ice-cream but the ice-cream to cake ratio was perfect too and well balanced with the liquid chocolate on top. It's a desert that you must try.
In short it's a nice little restaunt. Go with your friends, family, girlfriend or anybody. Quite pocket friendly too. However there are a few things that the restaunt needs to get right and one such thing is that they need to serve the food a liffle quicker otherwise its an absolutely...
Read moreI don't know why this place has so many negative reviews. Overpriced and lame cafes like icanflyy, Artsy, Terminal 11, Whistling Kettle get so many 5 star ratings (& paid reviews?) from affluent niche and this really awesome cafe has so many negative ratings. Really! People are mindless these days. First of all, let me say that the ambience alone is sufficient to bring true cafelovers and Kolkatans to this place. The chequered floor and colonial style decor are just magnificent. The staff is very cordial and helpful. All the items are snacks mostly. And all are very much pocket friendly. Yes, wrt the pricetags the quality and quantity are good. Yes, they do not have any heavy course like pasta, but I can assure you that 3-4 items from their menu will fill two persons quite well. And the bill will be around 500-600 only! Added bonus - Zomato Gold! So for a very pocket friendly experience and a dose of British era, do visit this cafe. The salads, pizzas, potato wedges and second flush tea - all are...
