I absolutely love this place. This is a pilgrimage for me every time I go back mumbai. This is one of those places that manages to get patrons for life.

To start with, this is the premium experience of a south style bar and restaurant from mumbai. The ambience is nice. There is a lot of seating space. Groups of all sizes can be easily accommodated. There is the non ac section at the ground floor and the AC section on the first floor. The service is very good and very quick. The varity on offer in both good and drinks is substantial. If you are looking for a 'happening' place this is probably not it. But if you are somewhere in south mumbai looking for a place to hang with friends or colleagues, this is a great option.

The food is quite nice. You have all the usual suspects from masala papad to chicken crispy and all are made very well. If you are from mumbai it will match your expectations and go beyond. The sea food is awesome, relatively fresh and a good varity on offer. I personally love the bombil (Bombay duck) fry. It is a local delicacy and a must try. For main course you have all the regular options from veg to non-veg. From indo-Chinese to Indian. Every thing is reasonably priced. The drinks are also priced reasonably. I never leave this place thinking that i have paid more than i imagined. For that matter i am mostly pleasantly surprised on how reasonable the meal was.

Dakshin Bar & Kitchen, located at South Mumbai near Ballard Estate, is known for serving good Mangalorean seafood cuisine. The place is quite spacious with a smoking section near the entrance alongside a a/c dining section and a family dining section on the first floor. Crowd is mostly a mix bunch of office goers and locals during weekdays due to the close proximity to the offices nearby. Menu is the typical South Indian seafood fare along with Chinese and North Indian cuisine. The prices are slightly on the upper end but ok considering the ambience and the location of the restaurant. Bar is well stocked with your usual brands.

Update (Nov 2023): Avoid ordering mocktails/cocktails as they don't know how they are done. Kababs can now be ordered in half (4 pieces) or full (8 pieces) portion wise, which is really good. Service is just ok and needs improvement. Most servers seem bored to do their job. Fresh catch like surmai, pomfret and prawns are the go-to for those who relish seafood.
