Mockingbird Cafe Bar — Restaurant in Mumbai

If you are looking for a place with good food, good ambience and a place to chill and relax then Mockingbird Cafe is the one which is located right opposite to Gaylord cafe in Churchgate. "Mockingbird Cafe" got its name from the novel "To kill a mockingbird" which happens to be Mr. Purohit's (owner) one of the favourites. This place has a cool vibe with soft music playing in background which is loved by of all the cute oldies visiting this place. The walls of the restaurant is creatively decorated with the inspiring quotes which are fun to read. They do have different type of seating arrangement right from trendy High Rise tables to vintage sofas.

They also have a section which they call it a library , stacked with books which are majorly owned by owner. You are free to pick up any one and spend a good time reading the novel along with your drink. Games are something which everyone likes to indulge in and suddenly from no where that competitive spirit arises from within. Its a very good way of spending time with your friends. And that's why Mockingbird Cafe has a lot of indoor games which you can pick and start playing which the food arrives.

The staff is very good and well mannered. Mr. Sagar helped us choosing the right dishes according to our preferences. He explained each dishes in detail and his knowledge was commendable.

With regards to food, this place has surprised us alot. Honestly we thought that the food served over here would be okay. They also have a special Jain menu. But the kind of menu they have is really amazing. The drinks served over here are unique and tasty. So here are the details of what we had while we visited this restaurant a couple of days ago...

DRINKS- 👉Dark invader- One of the best mocktail to have here. It was made with Blueberry, pineapple juice & vanilla gomme with raspberry on top. It had a perfect taste of vanilla & berry. Highly Recommended.

👉Hot chocolate- At times when you're just not in mood to have any cocktail & you relax to sip on some hot chocolate with some games.

APPETIZER 👉Green harissa tossed baby potatoes with quesso- Baby potatoes tossed in harissa paste made with green chillies, cumin & mustard. The taste of harissa paste along with Quesso is just perfect. It cant keep my hands off it. Highly Recommended..!! If you love potatoes then one should definitely try this out.

👉Mix cheese chilly (Jain) It was made with Mozarella, cheddar & paneer with bell peppers & chilly tossed with homemade siracha. It was very sweet and at the same time spicy to taste. We would rate it as average.

👉Jalapeno & cheese arancini- (Jain) Cheese stuffed rice ball coated with crumbled bread & deep fried. It was served on a bed of yogurt with salsa on top. A must try.

MAINS 👉Spiced peperonata pizza- Thin crust pizza topped mix peppers, capers , olives & broccoli as an extra addition. It was cheesy. The only thing is crust could have been little more crispier and the base sauce could be improved in terms of taste. Otherwise we totally loved it

👉Spaghetti aglio olio- (Jain) When you see spaghetti made in Jain you just can't resist to order. Had it for the first time & totally loved it. Spaghetti was made with Olives, peppers , zucchini & basil. It was just perfect. Though Rahul missed his garlic in it.

👉White Chocolate & mix berry cheesecake- ( eggless) This cheesecake was made with berries hence giving it a lovely purple color with shavings of white chocolate on top. It was soft & not that heavy to eat unlike the other cheesecake. A must try. The Blue berry syrup enhanced the taste of the cake. Overall in love with...

Mockingbird cafe bar, the place where you will find a real peace of mind. The place where you can sit and relax with a cup of coffee or a sip of stylish drinks along with lots of activities to do. A complete package of lovely food, amazing drinks, cosy Ambiance and amazing range of novels/ books. A place where gang can relax and have a great memories. A big stack of games is another way to spend a time.

The cafe bar has really nice Ambiance with really happening music and very live environment. The staff here is really friendly and humble which makes this place more beautiful. Its near to Churchgate railway station and sea face. So the climate here is always pleasant. Mockingbird cafe has really nice sitting space, around 110-120 people can accommodate.

From their menu we tried, Hot chocolate and Hazelnut Latte: To begin with, we tried their amazing hot beverages. Just taking a sip and reading a book is always peaceful. The hot chocolate was really amazing. The creamy texture with dark chocolate was just delightful. The Hazelnut Latte was also very good. The flavors were really good, and the cookie given with that was really amazing. The choco chips were properly cooked.

Mix cheese chilly: one of the best apittizers at Mockingbird. The spicy and cheesy dish. Spicy herbs along with bell pepper and the cheese balls were prepared in red gravy. All the flavors were coming out really well and the spicy food lovers will definitely like this. Worth trying it. Recommended.

Baked nachos: After eating nachos in this style, i just became fan for this kind of serving. The nachos were baked along with the cheese. Toppings was salsa sauce and beans. The taste was really amazing. And to have it along with hot beverages is just perfect. The portion was sufficient for 2.

Jalapeño and cheese arancinni: the cheesy arancinni with tangy jalapeño and mayonnaise was just fantastic. The taste and the texture was really good. The portion size was sufficient for 2. And the arancinni was really big in size. Totally cheesy.

Half n Half : Greek pizza and spiced pepperonata pizza: To avoid confusion between 2 pizzas, we ordered half n half pizza. The pizza was thin crust and had really fresh toppings. Cucumber on top was something new for me. But tasted really good. Also the spicy pepperonata was good. The flavors were really good.

White chocolate and mixed berry cheese cake: Being a cheesecake lover, ordered this beautiful creation of cheesecake. The berry flavors coming out really well. The white chocolate was going really well with cheese. The sweetness was perfect and the presentation was super fantastic. Highly recommended.

Overall had a great time with family at Mockingbird. Thanks to management for hospitality and delicious food.

I had to kill time to meet a friend after their work so after looking at coffeeshops/cafes near Churchgate station, I stumbled upon this

Prior to getting in, I asked the servers if this is a coffee house with WiFi to make sure. They were like yes please seat.

I ordered buttered caramel cafe (it was 4 PM so not lunch nor dinner time) and it was quite good. I also really enjoyed the ambience as well. Very peaceful with a nice view of the interior and the outside (from few seats) making it great for people watching or thinking. Also the music was very low.

However my reasoning for giving one star is the horrible service I received here.

When I was asking the difference between the different types of drinks they provide, the server just repeatedly said "the flavor" like ok

After five minutes, their WiFi stopped working. I asked two different servers but they didn't even bother to fix the issue.

What made my experience particularly horrible was this certain server. After 1.5 hours of me being there (5:30 PM now), he just drops the menu on my table and asking me if I wanted something else.

If the cafes were packed with people or I had been sitting there 3 hours and over or it was dinner time already, I would have happily ordered something... But that was not the case. I was annoyed and told him hey its not yet dinner time and I am waiting for a friend to come here.

The certain server does the same again 45 minutes later (again cafe was hardly packed) but this time he tells me "sir these tables are reserved for 7 PM". I know it was a total lie. There were people sitting next to me for hours too but they were not alone like me so he didn't bother telling them about the made up lie of 7 PM reservation.

He just wanted me to leave and I found that very annoying because it is a cafe.. I am paying 4 USD to hang out here not just for the coffee I can make at home and I will happily order more if its dinner time, my friend gets here or the cafe is getting overpacked.

Anyways my friend arrived by the second time this irritating employee bugged me and I just left.
