As a Parsee, I write this review with utmost hesitation and mixed feelings (especially since my aunt worked here decades ago)
RTI is known for its Parsee food. However, it seems, the place is also known for serving its leftovers the next day, reheating them to seem fresh. This becomes a major problem in non-veg items, especially mutton cutlets; the storage seems rather questionable.
Not once, but THRICE over the last few years, I've picked what seemed to be 'freshly made and just delivered' mutton cutlet at their outlet at the Parsi General Hospital - the server was still placing the trays in the glass cases. The result was devastating "food poisoning" that started within less than 2 hrs of consumption, resulting in diarrhea and fever lasting 3 days. It was only on this 3rd time that I realized what was causing these bouts because the cutlet was the only item I had picked to have (with a chapati). Speaking to neighbors in my Parsi Colony (AND to my homeopath) it comes out this is a consistent pattern. 'I would NEVER pick anything from RTI... Ever!' Says my neighbour.
Probably the meals like curries and white sauces are fine but NEVER pick a mutton cutlet early in the day; the ones after 11am are probably the fresh ones made that morning.
I later get inside information that these issues have been picked in internal audits for years... and nothing has changed.
The fact that such food is being sent to a hospital outlet, no less... where relatives of people who are sick are already going through a difficult time, is even more appalling.
There can be no better way of losing the sterling reputation built by our Parsee ancestors on this land; all for a few 100 rupees.
I hope this review reaches the ears of the senior management and the Board... because, quite clearly, people in charge have gotten complacent or impertinent in their seriousness and responsibility towards the name and reputation of this...

Read moreWe had ordered chicken and mutton cutlets, omelette, chicken puffs, quiche followed by bread and butter pudding all of which were delicious. For drinks, we both had raspberry soda. I remember the ladies behind the food counter were very welcoming, helpful and kind. Unfortunately, I do not have any photos to upload but if it helps with credibility of my review - I am a chef and so very picky.
By way of a background, my wife and I found the cafe in 2011 whilst trying to locate the Russian Embassy. We were both hungry! When we entered we were not sure if the cafe was open for public but felt very welcoming.
I had made a note of what we ate on our visit but did not note the name of the cafe. I have been trying to find the name and address of the cafe for a very long time but thanks to Google I have managed now and look forward to visiting on our upcoming visit to...
