The moment you enter, you are welcome like rajas and Rani from well dressed polite courteous staff with warm gesture. The walk in gallery makes you travel in old palace with lots of pictures from old times . The fountain ⛲ with sculpture make you feel like you are in some English town. The ambience is mixture of classic elegant simplicity blending to give mesmerizing memory of imperial hotel. The restaurant 1911 is spacious divided into three section with bar area indoor area and a grass side gallery with blue pillars. The lights the decor just soothes mind . We went for lunch and ordered dahi kababs matar cutlet signature cocktail nonveg soup for starter. The dishes arrived after forty minutes which was way beyond our imagination. Dahi kabab were large in size and crunchy from outside but curd inside seemed to be cooked. The dip chutney served was perfect for it. The matar cutlet were tasty and rich . I liked it. Signature drink was amazing . It had that cut of vodka and citrus fruit which just was lovely. The soup was served in good amount and was flavorful. For main course we ordered kadhai paneer and aloo kulcha and spaghetti in arrabiata sauce. Kadai paneer was served in large amount and was awesome. I loved use of spices. The kulcha was bit soggy but had good taste. The big let down was spaghetti which I found to be very thick in size. The tomato sauce was prepped from scratch and had not those preservative sauce so I liked it. But spaghetti itself was big disappointment. I wish they had used thin noodles. In desert we ordered banoffee . To my expectation it didn't hit the mark . I can taste caramelize banana with cream and toffee flavour . But it was too sweet for me and needed some crunchy texture in it. The service is slow but loved main course. Loved the history of bar . The cost is on higher side but on time it's...
Read moreWhat can I say... First, I will preface this review by stating that I did not stay in the hotel. I visited for lunch in the 1911 restaurant. The hotel itself looks magnificent. Great, welcoming staff. Beautiful surroundings. It's just historical bliss come to life. The restaurant itself is beautiful, comfortable, and extremely attractive. For the lunch, I ordered the 1911 chicken club sandwich. I must say that, after all of the surroundings amd atmosphere and service.... This sandwich was truly the most disgusting club sandwich I have had. This has nothing to do with the price. I knew that going in. It's a great a hotel and you don't expect a bargain lunch. The sandwich itself was just awful. Some weird kind of ground chicken paste made from dark meat chunks. Overly crispy bacon. No mayonnaise (maybe a brushing). The chicken resembled a cross between dog food and cat puke. It waa really not what a club should have, which is juicy, succulent chicken breast. It's unfortunate. It's bad. It's yucky. It's not cheap. To be fair, it may be a British Raj recipe or something, given the historical aspect of the hotel. If that's that case, one wonders how they even conquered the subcontinent in the...
Read more1911 is an amazing restaurant located in a renowned, historical 5-star hotel near Connaught Place on Janpath Road named Imperial Hotel. The ambiance is luxurious, and they use exquisite cutlery for a truly lavish experience. The food quality is excellent, offering a delightful balance of spice and lightness. Each dish provides ample quantity, ensuring satisfaction. However, it's important to note that the menu pricing is on the higher side, reflecting the state-of-the-art nature of the establishment. The only improvement needed is better service, as there was an incident where a steward discarded a dish without permission, which was disappointing. Overall, 1911 is a great place to dine, with just a need for slight improvements in the serving aspect.
PS: Its a multi-cuisine restaurant & Gulab Jamun cheese cake was...
