If there was an option to give negative, I would have. Let me explain. We chose Eli's for our dinner with 5 families as they had advertised the place to be kid friendly and group friendly. When we arrived we were happy to see the ambience and overall vibe. We ordered some hors d'oeuvres and drinks. Kids were all seated and eating (as we were all really famished after a long day out in the sun),. Suddenly the owner comes to us and announces, to please ask the kids to maintain silence as the foreign guests MAY feel bad. We were speechless. First the place is supposed to be a kids friendly and this is advertised. So people especially the "foreigners" who come there should know that there will be kids around. Second all our kids were seated and having food. I looked around and there was one couple who seemed to be not from India. They were not even noticing anything around. Rest all were I believe were from India (around 2 more tables) Thirdly I was really surprised how the owner who seemed to be educated, can make such discriminatory comments like this. Shocked and disappointed, we decided to pay and walk out the place. Eli did not accept our payment. All this happened in a matter of 20 minutes. As we were making a video at that time, the whole incident is caught in the video as well. It could be noted that there was no commotion / running around / disturbance of any kind during the 20 minutes we were there. Eli should change the place from a shack / dhaba look to a fine dining place and put out clearly in all her ads - NO KIDS ALLOWED AS THEY WILL CAUSE DISTURBANCE TO OUR PRIVILEGED NON...
Read moreWith regret I say âthis is an absolute disasterâ. The shark fin soup was so salty we had to send it back. Except for the prawn and rice dish every other dish we ordered ( Syrian beef, Alleppey fish curry, she called something called as an Appam which seemed like a kid trying to make an attempt to cook for the first time ) was sadly no where near itâs authenticity. Feed back was not asked, So wasnât given. I sincerely wish the lady who is attempting to be a line cook, to drastically improve her cooking skills. The reason given that the soup was salty was the chef cooks for the local Chinese who like it that way. The consistency was watery and no attention was given to seasoning. The guava juice was floored sweet water. The Syrian beef was pale in colour and so was the pork roast. I have absolutely no clue how she can get any positive reviews let alone 4 stars. I usually do not write negative reviews but found it compelling to write this one, So it may avoid any one else being disappointed. I liked the set up as it was very basic and was happy with and was hoping the food will win us over, but I can understand why she cannot do any better as she will not survive in the actual restaurant industry. Sincere best wishes she...
Read moreMy trusted navigator and tour guide (better half) kind of surprised me with the choice of this place
We got there for lunch on a very warm September afternoon
Elizabeth and her man Friday were very welcoming and great hosts
The setting and atmosphere was very homely - expect no frills - tidy and neatly laid out tables and chairs - very clean and rustic cutlery
This place is a non vegetarian paradise (of course there are veg options) and I personally asked Elizabeth to surprise me with what she thought was good
She knows her job - she asked me what I would like with a few options and bam the stuff I ate was great - stuffed calamari with baby shrimps which was topped off in a rice cooked in a nice gravy I also had a fair share of stir fried beef - which was done to perfection and yes the beef was super tender
I am told the dessert is good fun here too - will save up some space in the belly for my next visit to try something out
The charm to this place will want you to come back for more - at least I look...
