A 60 year old VEG restaurant, serving south indian delicacy. Once you enter the restaurnat its lovely old interiors will give you the experince you require after hustle of the modern day. The restaurant is currently following all covid protocols (staff with mask, tables a meter away from eachother, contact tracing once you exit and satinization to its peak) Yes, a 60 year old restaurant definately comes with 60years of experience. Meet Mr. Ramaswami who handles the FnB service of the restaurant. A perfect gem with quality service and what most of the hotels and restaurants lack, is EMPATHY. The restaurant was not too busy when I entered and placed an order of Paneer 65, Veg pulao and lemon juice. As I faced trouble in communication and could speak only english. Mr. Ramaswami probably in his 40's or 50's was proactive and observant from a distance and came across my table as he noticed a communication issue with the staff and the guest(myself) while placing the order. He personally took my orders and quiet honetly said "sir the order would take some time, please be patient". Order was delivered quiet quickly than I expected (even before the standard 15min for main course and 10min for a starter) Also when the staff got me the main course first instead of the starter, he educated his staff on his mistakes, further he also apologised for the same. During my dining experience he ensured I was well take care off. Upfrontly brought me an extra glass off water and also had a small chat, which was a lovely approach. Suggestion to customers: When one dine in a south indian restaurant, one should not expect much of a north indian food to be delecious and comment accordingly. There is much more than just food to be consumed when you dine. This man and his staff are really doing their best to keep the stake high. A True Hotelier and An Excellent restaurant.

Must Visit, Highly...

Eating Out While Growing Up in Chennai was rare, it is usually limited to the customary visits to Saravana Bhavan and on rare occasions, it would be a nice dinner in Geetha Cafe in Pondy Bazaar, T.Nagar. We always visit the air conditioned section of the space, the supposedly fine dine part of the establishment.

In this Birthday month, that is March 2022 I wished to revisit that childhood memory and took wifey, daughter and most essentially parents back to Geetha Cafe, our THE fine dine place, from back in the day.

While the place hasn’t changed much in years, the fine dine space has definitely become brighter and smaller.

I was looking for my childhood favourite, the vegetable cutlet, but apparently it was off the menu.

The Gobi 65 was perfect as ever, highly recommended, the five mini utappam was a great one, loved the variety and the toppings were Yumm.

The Chloa Poori was delicious, but the gravy is something that need a little extra kick, the paneer Dosa was good, though not great, the paneer Dosa was just good, passable, would prefer the version in Saravana Bhavan anyday. The chilli Parota missed the mark but was ok, not unpalatable or bad, Saravana Bhavan version is always better.

Service as always was, how it has been, hit or miss.

A great place to revisit some nostalgia, might return for their meals...

Goo value overall. Finally, a moderately-priced joint that delivers reasonably decent quality and portions of food. I ordered the Medhu Vada, Podi Dosa and Masala Dosa. Vadas weren't the freshest but that could be because I ordered closer to lunchtime and one should try this sort of thing before 10 am. Podi Dosa taste was passable but texture was too dry. Masala Dosa was a tad better overall but the filling itself wasn't that great albeit acceptable. Accompaniments were 2 types of chutney, i.e. coconut and onion-garlic, and sambar. Did not try sambar but chutneys were alright in terms of taste and portion. Taste was not top-notch but definitely above-average at this price point and it might be better if you dine-in at the right time of day. Total price of INR 285 (Vadas INR 35 apiece, Dosas around INR 90) so that's very deceent value-for-money. I've paid twice as much for worse at more reputed establishments so I guess this a pretty goo find in this...

A Timeless Culinary Gem – A Must-Visit Spot! This restaurant has been around for over 70 years, just think about the dedication and quality required to sustain a business for such a long time! That alone speaks volumes about their food and service. It's definitely a great place to try, offering a variety of dishes, including delicious chaat items. However, their dosa items truly stand out, paired with their flavorful sambar and chutney, it's an experience you shouldn’t miss. One of the highlights of this place is that they serve food on a banana leaf, which enhances the authenticity and traditional feel of the meal. Not only is the food amazing, but the service is also exceptional. The staff is attentive, and the hospitality makes the dining experience even better. If you’re looking for authentic flavors and time-tested quality, this place is a must-visit!
