For someone who always orders the same damn thing in every restaurant which is hardly interesting nor experimental (IBS alert), this particular spot has to be my favorite for idly (and according to my mother, South Indian means as well). Not only do they provide two or more types of chutney, all of which are scrumptious and addictive, the sambar and the unique dish of the day they offer as a side (which I think is very generous of them) for even an order of a single idly is always a treat! It’s a spot that I find myself missing when I leave the country.
Should also mention that the servers here are always so friendly and kind, they make you feel so welcome as though you’re dining in a relative’s house. I wish I had asked her name but there’s a middle aged waitress there that always has a contagious smile on her face that exudes warmth and positivity. :)
I don’t always bother praising any restaurants online by leaving a positive review but I felt like this place is totally underrated and deserves the recognition. As someone who’s new here, I foolishly fell for the recommendations of the common famous restaurants with multiple branches all over the city which were all highly disappointing. This one on the other hand is a hidden gem imo.
Here’s to the handler of that business who obviously takes food seriously, as they should....
Read more3.5-stars actually because it is above average but not quite very goo (4-stars). Definitely goo value overall because prices are very reasonable. I tried the medhu vada, podi dasa, pongal and idlis. The podi dosa was probably the best, i.e. large dosa, decent oil etc. I would've liked a more flavourful and spicy podi though. Still, it was above-average. The pongal portion was large-ish (200 grams?) and it tasted alright. Vadas tasted alright but the shapes were a bit off, i.e. most looked like bondas and only one really had that doughnut shape plus nice crisp. Idlis were sour and, although still soft, they were not fluffy and had probably just begun their journey to rubberiness--I did not like that. Sambars and chutney were fine. Overall, goo value-for-money but I guess it's a bit of a...
Read moreOne of my favourite places to eat in T.nagar. I always make it a point to take something out to eat from here. This place has been operational since many years and now it has got an upgrade. I was addicted to their noodles at first, but now I can safely say I have tried everything on their menu. My favorites will be mixed rice and parotta, alongwith the noodles of course. A great place to eat for vegetarians, both from a taste and cost perspective. Sometimes there may be a delay in getting your parcel depending on the items ordered and the crowd. Also, you may want to avoid going on Saturday evenings as the crowd is at its peak then. On other days, a definite place to try out. Personally, I can't wait for them to open up a full...
