The weather is changing in Chennai and a good time of the year to have a leisurely fine dining experience of Thai cuisine at the Lotus - The Park. The theme of the restaurant is the Blue Lotus, a native Thai flower species and the motif is reflected in the blue interiors and the tapestries. They have tweaked the menu and have given the dishes a flair with a bit of fusion thrown in which didn't detract from the taste at all but enhanced it quite a bit.

Started the meal with a Watermelon cooler which had a hint of basil and was quite cool and refreshing.

The salad was Raw mango, shallots, chilly and cherry tomatoes with peanuts. It never ceases to wow me each time.

For soup we had the Tom yum Soup which had hits of lemon grass, a bit of chilly and other herbs which made it quite aromatic and tasteful and I quite liked it.

Next for appetizers we had Stir Fried Lotus stem which was quite crunchy and one of my favourites - the Tempura Prawns with Sriracha aioli. I just can't get over the taste. The prawns were quite juicy and big and with the right amount of dressing it was quite a delight to the eyes and to savour. A winner dish all the way. Another dish which was quite extraordinary was the Broccoli and Bean curd satay served in a shot glass with peanut sauce. The tenderness of the broccoli combined quite well with the bean curd and peanut sauce and the crunch was provided by the peanuts. This is one of the must try dishes there.

For the main course we had the Bay of Bengal prawns with sweet chilly sauce, the huge prawns were cooked beautifully and had a good balance of sweetness and spice from pepper. The other main was Stir Fried Chiang Rai Chicken with snow peas and hill garlic.

The crunchiness of the snow peas provided a good contrast and both the dishes paired well with the Basmati Steamed rice.

Couldnt resist the carefully selected desserts and decided to go with the Black Sticky Rice cooled with coconut cream and lychee gelato which was a lot like a rice pudding but with an asian rwist with the usage of black rice and lychees,

The piece de resistamce was the Pandan Marscapone mousse with the green Tea Genoise, this was fusion at its best .The asian take on the Tiramisu with the Pandan flavouring and the green tea definitely makes for a must try dish.

This was a wonderful meal replete with excellent service by Santhosh who explained each...

Do not go here. Salt, salt, and more salt. The only thing I could taste is salt. Indicated to the waitstaff, after the very first dish came out, to lower the salt a lot. The chef was very nice and accommodating with remaking a dish, but even that too was way too salty. They are giving sodium overload to their customers. I had to drink water for hours after eating here and felt so sick eating there.

They keep nice plates for show and as soon as you sit down they are removed. Super weird. You get to eat on a less nice plate that they bring out.

The sliced lamb here is the softest and nicest cut I have had, but it was inedible due to the saltiness. Ordered a claypot chicken which was ok. Nothing to write about. Minced chicken was doused in too much sauce and was over cooked.

I feel restaurants already salt the meat. Then they marinate it and finally salt a 3rd time in the sauce. What are you doing?

This isn't the first 5 start restaurant that has had 1 star level of food. To be very honest, I suspect that majority of 5 star restaurants are just overpriced tourist traps. There are so many more expensive restaurants that actually have good food. Save your...

We recently visited the Lotus Restaurant in Park Hotel Chennai and had an absolutely amazing experience, thanks to the exceptional customer service and hospitality provided by Esther. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and made to feel like VIPs.

Esther went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. She was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering recommendations that were spot-on. She also made sure that our food and drinks were served promptly and that our needs were met throughout the evening.

The atmosphere at Lotus Restaurant was inviting and comfortable, and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. However, it was Esther's exceptional service that truly set our experience apart. She was the best and made our visit to the restaurant a memorable one.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Esther and the rest of the staff at Lotus Restaurant for their outstanding hospitality. We will definitely be back and will recommend this restaurant to our friends and family. Keep up...
