We had gone out for lunch today with family! As we were all light eaters we really didn't want to go for those fancy buffets. And, the family were a mix of veg and nonveg options, we narrowed down our search and zeroed in on courtallam border rahmath. The ambience from outside looked superb but the inside was drastically different. I felt a little cramped inside and since I have an active 3 year old and my brother has an 2 year old, those steps looked super scary.
By the time we reached and ordered it was already 2.45 I guess. They returned back in 5 minutes saying that their Briyani was already over and we even checked if it'll be ready in sometime and the was answer was no. So, we had to choose between options of parotta, dosa, and idiyappam. With heavy heart we settled with their puff parotta, normal parotta, veg kothu parotta, mutton Kari dosai, karandi omelette, natu kozhi chicken varuval, and Mutton gravy.
The biggest twist came when we are almost done, they came back to announce that briyani was ready! The disappointment seeped and settled down in stomach. We had to say no to BRIYANI. Could literally see disappointment mirroring through all our faces. More in my daughters face who's an avid briyani fan.
So, finally topped it off with two goli sodas to soothen our greasey stomachs. The puff parotta was super oily.
Everything tasted amazing, no noteworthy negative thus far.
We paid around 1375/-, took a quick glance for the review, cause my brother paid for it.
So, if you don't care much about the ambiance and like greasy South Indian food! Go for it. I literally loved their parotta! Oh also, since I am an eggitarian I had to order veg kurma for Rs 39/- since all their salnas are nonveg. The veg kuruma also tasted amazing.
Happy New Year all! Until my next...

Update 18/10/2019:
Location changed, near by vani mahal T Nagar.
Hospitality is worse than ever ..
un hygienic food supply Only few suppliers are there so person who serves the food also cleaning the table. We noticed they started serving food again without washing hands. It was disgusting... They should have adequate suppliers or they should have washed their hand before serving foods.
Too much waiting time Hardly 30 minutes to get any of your order. One of the hotel staff shouted a supplier that all order will take min 30 mins. Dont ask again and again..
You have to order food all in once else you have wait 15 - 20 mins for every order, its better to remind them every ten minutes else they will forget the order. Below is what happend to us.
4 of us friends went around 10.00PM planned to have a good dinner & ordered for 12 parottas, we were served with 10 parotta instead of 12 after 30 mins. we order additional 6 parottas the person who took the order forgot our order and after 15 mins of waiting we asked him about the 6+ 2 parotta what he replied was shocking , he said that he thought it was already served and then he told another person to bring the 6 parottas. again we waited 15 mins.. we are frustrated to the core and planned to leave in mid of dinner and asked for bill, again waited 10 mins.
If you are planning for a visit with childrens better avoid this branc
Its highly disappointing, how their hospitality is unhygiene and reckless..
Will never visit that...
Read moreGood taste... and average priced :) Price for 2 = 400 !! Border Parotta is a mouthwatering destination for all the parotta freaks and briyani addicts… This hotel belonging to the World famous Border rahmath parotta at the Tamil nadu/ kerala border near Chenkottai in thenkasi, down south of tamilnadu. While the unique surroundings, taste, settings, and flavor that you feel at their main branch is incomparable and unique, they have done a commendable job in bringing their traditional or trademark taste and flavor to their Chennai pondy bazaar branch. You may easily relate the parotta, which they name as coin parotta, based on the unique size (smaller comparable to parotta commonly available elsewhere) it is been made. Through their method of placing the unlimited kuruma/serva vaali(bucket) in the table, they have overwhelmed the avid parotta fanatics whom always feel uncomfortable in demanding kuruma/serva to the waiters. Asking ‘innum konjam’ or ‘mela oothunga’ is disgusting, as it a tacit that kuruma/serva is always a foodie fundamental right when you wanna really enjoy parotta. Coming to biryani, again it is unique in its taste and flavor. You would defiantly crave for more. Their mutton biryani is a must try. Their princing is also moderate and also serves good quantum of food. This place is suitable for family, friends and especially for lover who wanna give their partner...
