Delightful Indonesian Cuisine with Outstanding Service
I recently had a fantastic dining experience at Lumbung, an Indonesian restaurant that left me thoroughly impressed. From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance and service were top-notch. The attentive and friendly staff, especially our waiter Komang, made our visit truly memorable.
Lumbung excels in serving authentic Indonesian cuisine, and I was thrilled to explore the flavors and spices that make this cuisine so unique. The dishes were a delightful blend of traditional Indonesian flavors, expertly prepared to satisfy even the most discerning palates. Be prepared for a bit of a kick in some of the spicier options, but fear not, as Komang was more than willing to assist us in tailoring the dishes to suit our European taste preferences. His collaboration with the chef ensured that the food remained enjoyable while maintaining its authenticity.
One aspect that truly stood out was the exquisite dessert selection. The sweet indulgence at Lumbung was beyond compare. Every bite was a symphony of flavors and textures, leaving us wanting more. The restaurant truly excels in offering a complete dining experience, from the appetizers to the main course and, of course, the mouthwatering desserts.
As for the location, Lumbung offers a mesmerizing view of an illuminated waterfall, adding an enchanting touch to the entire dining experience. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a breathtaking setting makes Lumbung a must-visit destination.
Overall, Lumbung is a gem of a restaurant that delivers on all fronts. The attentive service provided by Komang, the authentic Indonesian cuisine, and the stunning location make it an exceptional dining experience. I highly recommend Lumbung to anyone seeking a taste of Indonesia in a charming and...
Read moreWent for a special evening out based on other reviews. We left seriously underwhelmed by the food, especially for the most expensive meal we've had in Bali.
Our hosts were very friendly and hospitable, and the atmosphere upmarket, although you are essentially in a glass box, looking out into the dark. Some lights on the greenery outside wouldn't go amiss, and the half pace soundtrack of pop classics was excruciating. There were only three tables seated, on a Saturday night. The restaurants we passed in town on the way here were heaving.
The food was mediocre at best. The cooking class we did the day before resulted in far tastier dishes, and we made them ourselves, for half the price! The crackers on arrival were without a dip/sambal, which is unusual. The fritters for a starter were more chewy than crunchy; the salad soggy and underwhelming. And for mains we had the Rendang and the Duck, both which had minimal sauce and were absent a depth of flavour.
Everywhere else we've been, the food has had a good amount of spice (reduced on request) and taste; sadly this place is just bland. I even had to ask for seasoning to try to improve the undersalted and overcooked-but not yet sticky rice.
Oh, and the wine? They only do red or white local wine, at $45USD a bottle. The white was poor. My bintang beer was fine - but it's a bottled beer - and it still cost 1/3 more than every...
Read moreWe booked this restaurant based on the very good reviews and the visuals. We arrived to find it very empty, but we were given a table outside on the balcony overlooking the very spectacular waterfall. We were a bit disappointed that some of the dishes were changed which we saw in the Googla reviews. But there was still a reasonable choice of Indonesian food.
We tried to order a bottle of wine but were told that there was only one choice of Indonesian wine available and no other choice. Although a bottle of South African wine was provided later by another waiter.
The food was just OK but nothing like the recommendations we saw online.
We later found out that the restaurant was only just opening again after Covid and the ambiance, food and service was unfortunately...
