I strongly don’t recommend this restaurant.
There was a black piece of thread that came in my rice. I didn’t mention it to the waitress at the time, because, hey, it happens, but because of what happened next, felt I should add that here. (Picture below)
The amount of salt used in their dishes upset my stomach. I’m used to a decent amount of salt, but this tasted a bit over the top.
After my meal, I paid in cash, however the waitress attempted to give me the incorrect change. I showed her the math on my calculator app, after which she provided me with the correct amount of change.
Overall, I am disappointed with my experience. There are plenty of options for Indian food in this neighborhood, so I recommend you save your money here and try elsewhere.
Update: It appears the owner has left a misinformed response to my review where they attempt to negate my experience with false information. I get it, it’s a very competitive industry and reviews mean a lot for these people, so it can be difficult to receive negative criticism.
To set the record straight, all my apparel was neon and bright… I don’t like to wear black in the heat, it’s hot enough.
The waitress shortchanged me 50k rupiah, no idea where the owner is guessing these numbers from. The waitress kindly apologized and provided the correct change after I showed her.
Again, I get it, negative reviews can be tough to receive, but please handle them with integrity don’t create fake stories to try and cover up my experience and threaten customers with negative karma. What the heck is that all about?
I absolutely LOVE Bali, and the Balinese culture, food, and nature here is out of this world! BUT this restaurant, you should AVOID.

It is a little difficult to find if you don’t know where you’re going, up a big flight of stairs on the top floor of a building. Is easy to miss if just walking down the street trying to find somewhere but worth coming in. Sort of treehouse vibe with enough eating to easily seating 30-40.
Ordered a chicken vindaloo, I made it clear to the waitress I wanted this SPICY, chicken curry, steamed rice, garlic naan, Bali Hai and Coke Zero.
Order taken quickly and drinks to the table very timely. Issue for me was no cold glass served with my beer. Coke Zero asked for and coke initially brought. Not a huge deal but the small details are important.
Again, food out within 15 minutes max but vindaloo not spicy at all. I know this as when I usually have a vindaloo, my partner tries the sauce and it initially usually blows her head off! I asked the waitress to send it back and ask for it more spicy for me, very politely and it seemed she took it personally and wasn’t pleased with me when I asked this. I know it wasn’t her fault so I don’t know what the issue was. When it did coke back out less than 5 mins later, superbly spiced, great flavour and well done. If that came the first time it would have been really happy. Bread and rice both great.
Food is very fairly priced for what it is.
Would return and would...
Read moreMy humble journey, starting as a tiny grain in Ubud's fields, led me to a grand finale at Punjabi Grill Indian Cuisine. Nestled in the heart of Ubud, this restaurant became the backdrop for a delightful family reunion dinner.
As I transitioned from the paddy fields to the plate, I marveled at the diverse selection of dishes we ordered. The feast was a true celebration of flavors, with each dish telling a tale of culinary mastery. From the naan that embraced me to the rich curries that surrounded, it was a culinary adventure unlike any other.
However, my rice grain heart couldn't help but notice a small hiccup in the experience – the limited drink selection. The offerings leaned heavily towards beer, with a sprinkle of other options. While the culinary journey was captivating, I yearned for a more diverse drink menu to complement the vibrant flavors of the dishes.
Despite this small hiccup, the overall experience was delightful. The food, a symphony of spices, was tastefully balanced – not too spicy, yet bursting with flavor. It was a culinary dance that left my rice grains swaying with joy.

A minor quibble with the drink options aside, your culinary offerings painted a vibrant picture of Indian flavors.
