We had a bit of a hike to get here for dinner but made the effort based on the reviews. It received a 'People's Choice Award' last year, and people have raved about it. But really, it was pretty average, and I would not make the effort to return. I had the Coconut and Prawn Soup, which is quite tasty but prawns way over cooked and really pretty average overall. I had the Chicken Satay, which was beautifully presented. The sauce was nice, but again, it was pretty average. My husband also had the pork ribs, again quite nice, but something I am not thinking about the next day. The service was good, but on par with what I have already received and expect in Bali. There was live traditional music, but this is what pushed us into leaving sooner than we may have as it was too loud, too dominating and honestly repetitious and boring. To top it off, 4 dogs decided to bark, fight, and mate in front of the restaurant (not the restaurants fault, obviously) for most of the time we were there. So, for me, what gives a 4 or 5 star rating is when I ask myself, 'Would I go back'? And the answer is, No ! So, no 4 or 5 star...
Read moreWe were served food that the restaurant didn't prepare themselves. When they were preparing our meal, one of those motorcycle vendor guys selling questionably safe street food that has been sitting there for a few hours drove up to the restaurant and they bought the meat from him that they eventually served to us.
I first thought that maybe they're just buying lunch for their workers, etc., but it was painfully clear that we were served the same as well, as pretty much all the 3-4 meat variants from a meat plate were cold and non-fresh, as if they've been sitting on that motorcycle for a few hours.
Maybe it was just our unlucky day, the restaurant was mostly empty when we visited and perhaps they couldn't be bothered to cook or had some issues in the kitchen or something, but I cannot recommend going to a restaurant where you might get sick when they outsource their cooking to a random street vendor selling unsafe food for 10%...
