Today evening, my husband and I had dinner at Moon by Sun in Ubud — and it was truly a wonderful evening.❤️
Let’s start with the food — absolutely delicious! I ordered the salmon steak with mango sauce and toast — tender, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. For dessert, I chose the passion fruit and coconut cake — light, refreshing, and just the right way to end the meal. I was especially touched by the little detail on my fresh juice — they decorated it with a watermelon butterfly — such a small thing, but it instantly lifted my mood. And when my husband accidentally spilled his drink, the staff kindly brought him a glass of ice cream as a gift — it was so thoughtful and sincere!
A special thank you to our waitress, Indah — she was genuinely kind, attentive, and polite, striking that perfect balance between being helpful and giving us space. It’s always a pleasure when you’re served by someone who truly cares about making your evening special.
And of course — the live music! The atmosphere was set by a talented musician playing the guitar and singing familiar, beloved songs — Ed Sheeran, The Beatles, Hotel California, Viva La Vida, I’m Yours by Jason Mraz… Each performance felt so heartfelt that we couldn’t help but quietly sing along.
The interior also deserves a mention — a stylish loft design, spacious yet cozy. We sat on the second floor, where it was fresh and airy despite the heat, with ceiling fans gently circulating the air. The candles on the tables added a soft, romantic glow.
All in all, it was a perfect mix of great food, beautiful music, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The evening flew by, leaving us with the most positive emotions. A heartfelt thank you to the Moon by Sun team for such a lovely experience — this is definitely a place we’d love to come back to.

Read moreI was quite disappointed at Moon By Sun. Prior to visiting and reading all the other reviews, I expected so much more from it.
The layout and decor of the restaurant is great. Very appealing. It was once we ordered our food and drinks that the standards began to slip. As an example, we both ordered a smoothie each and water and neither of these arrived until after our food. Not good! I ordered a Frisky Sour smoothie (papaya, grape, raspberries and lime) and when it finally came, it didn't have much flavour to it at all.
For my meal, I originally ordered the pork satay sticks, but they had run out of them. So I changed and ordered the falafel burger, which came with sweet potato fries. Whilst the fries were very few, they were well cooked, very crispy. The falafel burger was above average, but nothing special.
My partner ordered the pork ribs and said they were possibly the best pork ribs she has ever had, but the salad that came with it tasted really bad. She was trying to season her chips with salt, but the salt shaker was blocked. She went for a pineapple smoothie which she also said was nothing special.
We are around 7.30pm on Monday evening. There were a few tables taken, but no need to book.
The service was pleasant enough, although not very fast, considering how few tables were taken.
The elevated view is great if you want to watch the world walk by below, if you sit at the front of the restaurant

Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Moon by Sun for breakfast, and I must say, it was an experience that left me in an amazing mood for the rest of the day! From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance set a warm and inviting tone, making it the perfect spot to start my morning.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the breakfast dishes. Each plate was not only beautifully presented but also bursting with flavor. The creativity behind the dishes was fabulous, showcasing unique combinations and fresh ingredients that truly elevated the breakfast experience. I found myself savoring every bite, and it was clear that the chefs put a lot of thought and passion into their creations.
However, I did have one minor criticism: the coffee was served in a juice glass cup instead of a proper coffee cup. While the coffee itself was delicious, the choice of glass felt like a step down from the otherwise exceptional dining experience. It’s a small detail, but in a place where everything else was so thoughtfully curated, it stood out to me.
Overall, my visit to Moon by Sun was delightful, and I left feeling energized and uplifted. I highly recommend this gem for anyone looking for a breakfast that not only satisfies but also inspires. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their...
