An absolutely immaculate experience. The Lair is a niche restaurant nested into a beautiful rainforst scenery in the heart of Ubud. The lighting, music, and open venue all add to the excitement and atmosphere. The staff left nothing to be desired, from perfectly timing orders and drinks, to helping tuck us into our seats every time we got back to the table, they were always attentive and happy to help with smiles. The dining and meals were also magical, with the menu being printed on playing cards for dinner, desserts, and drinks. It is truly a unique and playful idea. The food itself was prepared immaculately and tasted like I wanted to eat their lunch and dinner for the rest of my trip. Truly delectable.
There are a few steps to get to The Lair restaurant from street level. Toilets are clean and well maintained. This is a must if you are in the Ubud area, and thank you to the team for your care...
Read moreWow, what an amazing experience we had here, right from the moment we first arrived it felt special. From entering through black curtains into a dark downward stairwell lit with flame flicker lamps, intriguing sounds like you entering a dragons lair. Met with smiling staff who explain the unusual process there. Drinks and food menu items on individual playing cards which is amazingly novel and a great souvenir. The cocktails were some of the best we have ever had equally matched by the food. From Beetroot meze, tuna tartare, porchetta, duck pancakes to their own take on potatas bravas everything was just perfect. This is a definite must go experience and we will definitely be back next trip to Ubud. Thank you to all the staff
Sorry about some food pics, couldn't resist eating before taking...
Read moreI got sucked in by a TikTok video and had high expectations for this place, but honestly, I was somewhat underwhelmed. The idea of the cards I think has been 'borrowed' from Merlins restaurant and the novelty quickly wears off. Food and cocktails both okay but nothing amazing and the service was really slow. Atmosphere was dead, despite it being fairly busy. View is nice, but we went to the restaurant next door (Arcadia), which was far, far better across the board - Food, drinks, view, service, atmosphere. If you're in the area, I'd suggest going there over The Lair any day of the week. Even when we just popped in for a cocktail (we went back a few days later for an outstanding dinner) we were given a free welcome drink upon arrival and a mini mint flavoured cornetto...
