Lebah Ubud — Restaurant in Pulau Bali

The restaurant is lovely. The only compliment I can really make about the food and drink here is that it's (fairly) cheap. But it is also fairly terrible. Ordered a Cuba libre and was served something that tasted nothing whatsoever like a Cuba libre. Sent it straight back. When I asked to see the bottle I discovered they're serving some local hooch for $10! No wonder they can afford to Happy Hour it at that price! Who knows what the methanol content could be! If I go blind tomorrow I'll ask my wife to update the review! When I order a Cuba libre I expect to get Bacardi, not some locally made hooch! Drink the beer. Do NOT get sucked in by the Happy Hour nonsense and order the cocktails here! I specifically tried Lebah Ubud on the strength of its 4.9 star reputation and that Google Maps displays it when one searches for Thai restaurant. It isn't a Thai restaurant under any stretch of the imagination. Nevertheless I ordered the red curry as I fancied Thai food. It was grim - too salty, not much taste other than chilli, texture was much too liquid, vegetables (terong and broccoli) weren't cut with any care so were enormous! A lovely, quiet atmosphere and the staff just could not be better. I had breakfast of two perfectly poached eggs with dijonaisse and two pieces of brown bread toast. My tea was hot and milk and honey was provided. This meal was included in my room price. The music is low and slow but the service and meals are on point and speedy. I had Nasi Goreng Rumahan which was just perfect. I asked if I could swap my sambal for sambal matah and that was not a problem. This is easily one of the best restaurants in Ubud! The view is absolutely incredible and the service is fantastic. All staff are extremely friendly and welcoming.
