Came here based on a recommendation from our van driver. I ordered the pisah (??) (complete meal), which came with pork meat, pork skin, sausage, and fried meat (and rice and soup).
The pork meat was very tender, and not pungent. I particularly liked the pork skin and fried meat, which were delightfully crispy. The skin was excellent - light and fluffy without being too greasy, and not chewy at all. Kind of like how you always want your pork rinds to be like. Even the soup was better than I expected - it was a vegetable soup with long beans, carrots, potatoes, and either chicken or pork cubes. It tasted a bit like a minestrone but without the tomato.
All in all, quite a satisfying detour. I will say that the pork was not as “porky” as I would have liked - the pork flavor was not really there. The meat was smooth but not as flavorful as I expected.
The restaurant itself is a little commercialized, with tourists (such as myself) constantly stopping in. There were a ton of bugs and flies everywhere which was slightly off-putting, even though we were in an air conditioned restaurant setting.
I haven’t tried any of the other famous places in Bali, but I would go back if I was craving Babi...
