Ubud Market – A Lively Hub of Culture and Craftsmanship Ubud Market is a must-visit spot in the heart of Ubud, perfect for those looking to soak in local culture and shop for authentic Balinese souvenirs. The market is filled with stalls offering a wide range of items — from wooden carvings, woven bags, and sarongs, to handmade jewelry and traditional Balinese costumes. It’s a great place to wander and explore, with narrow paths lined by colorful, traditional shops. Bargaining is expected — and part of the fun — so don’t hesitate to negotiate for the best price 🤭. While it can get busy during the day, the lively atmosphere adds to its charm. It’s conveniently located near the Ubud Palace and Water Palace, making it easy to include in your walking tour of central Ubud. Tip: Come early for fewer crowds and better deals!

The Ubud Street Market is a vcolourful place full of energy, perfect for wandering. Stalls are packed with everything from handmade crafts, paintings, wood carvings, clothes, and jewellery. I am surprised everything is hanmade, people are so talented. It’s a great spot to pick up souvenirs or unique home decor pieces. I have purchased few, loved the wooden work, i felt like buying the whole shop. Bargaining is part of the experience, so don’t be shy. While some items may be slightly overpriced for tourists, the variety and quality make it worth visiting. Overall, it’s a must-do in Ubud for anyone who loves culture, shopping and spending money :)

Don’t use credit card at street store.

I paid by credit card, but clerk said, it doesn’t work. So I needed to pay by cash.

Afterwards, I did receive a bill from the credit card company.

I had paid 1.4 million rupiah in both cash and credit.

It was a complete scam.

There are many shops on Ubud Street, and it's impossible to distinguish which one it was on Google Maps.

While I have received the erroneous bill, I have no way to prove that it was a mistake, so I will likely have to resign myself to the situation.

That's why I want to share my experience with those reading this review.

Never use your credit card in street shops. You will likely be told that the payment didn't go through.

Let me repeat,...

This place especially stands out for its wide variety of glassware, wooden items, rattan products, and shirts compared to other cities.

However, vendors tend to start with high prices, so it seems reasonable to negotiate about 60–70% off the initial price. There’s no need to haggle too aggressively, but there’s also no reason to overpay. It’s best when both sides are satisfied — the seller makes a fair profit, and I get a good deal.

If we can maintain good manners and be respectful while bargaining, I believe it helps create a more pleasant atmosphere. Some sellers may be pushy or show disappointment if you don’t buy, but even then, leaving with a smile and a polite “sorry” makes me...
