I have no idea why this place is so popular. I'll start with the very worst from our experience last night - I found a lump of dried MEAT IN MY VEGETARIAN CURRY. I immediately spat it out, having been vegetarian for around 10 years, I was of course horrified. My husband tasted it and confirmed my fears. The chef tried to fob us off by claiming it was star anise, because it looked a bit like it. I mean, come on, star anise. Maybe try something with less of a distinct flavour, if you want to fool us! Later the waitress admitted the error and there were apologies, including from the chef, who came out. I said I didn't want to pay for the curry, which they accepted, but I couldn't be bothered to press for more as I honestly just wanted to get going (my husband had long since finished his meal, as his arrived 5 - 10 minutes earlier). Oh also, prior to this, my drink order was put through wrongly (not a big deal of course, but just more of a wait).

Ok, so actually totally on a par with the meaty vegetarian curry horror, was the SICKNESS AND DIARRHEA we both suffered during the night, and continue to as I write this from bed the day after. I guess it was from my contaminated curry, as my partner tried mine, but I didn't have his. I haven't felt this unwell in a long time, we are basically bedbound, and it absolutely cannot have been from anything else consumed during the day and we have been extremely vigilant with washing our hands and only drinking safe water. Pretty rough huh. Scrolling through other reviews, there is actually another claiming food poisoning from a few months ago too (I didn't check if there are more beyond that).

We were also completely baffled why so many people were queuing outside (being added to a waiting list) when, at one point, there were THREE empty tables near us!! There also seemed to be no system for going through the waiting list, as at one point, I was asked if I was someone much further down the list. We did actually book in advance too. Bizarre. It seems the restaurant is just terribly managed and communication seemed poor.

The only positives were the friendliness (although mainly in the form of apologies) of the waitresses, and the cute kitten frolicking about.

Obviously, I severely recommend avoiding...

I recently visited this restaurant and had a very positive experience. The atmosphere was welcoming and pleasant, striking a nice balance between lively and relaxed. The interior was well-designed and created a cozy and inviting setting for the meal, whether you're dining as a couple, with family, or in a larger group of friends.

The service was professional and friendly. The staff were attentive without being intrusive and were happy to answer any questions about the menu. The food arrived at the table in a timely manner, and both the presentation and temperature were just right – if not better than expected.

The menu offered a good variety of options, and it was clear that the ingredients were fresh and of high quality. The flavors were well-balanced, and each dish felt thoughtfully prepared and carefully composed. Starters, main courses, and desserts all maintained a consistent high standard. Portion sizes were appropriate, and the pricing reflected the quality of the food served.

Overall, this was a thoroughly satisfying dining experience. It’s a place I would gladly return to and can confidently recommend – whether you’re looking for a casual weekday meal or something a bit more special. The restaurant delivers on all fronts and leaves a lasting impression...

Raw chicken, arbitrarily pricing, unhelpful staff - stay away. We initially only stopped by to grab a couple of corn fritters to take away on our way to town, which they quickly grabbed from their standing kiosk and charged us 10k, no service charge. Upon realising that we could just grab more and eat lunch at our next destination, we popped back within five minutes just to get more fritters and a nasi campur to take away, all from their standing kiosk. While 5 fritters cost 10k before, they charged us 20k for 8 of them. Alright, that’s fine, we thought - but then they decided to add 10% service charge as well, even though we were not sitting down to eat and even though there was no service charge the first time around. The staff were very unhelpful when we explained why we were taken aback by this and we left with a bit of a sour taste in our mouth, having paid the full amount. For raw chicken, as it turns out... what a nightmare. Avoid,...

14 Mar 2025. This Balinese gem is hidden away in the unlikeliest of places. I stumbled on it, just wanting a cold drink on a hot day. It was a sort of hole in the wall, much like a small Australian school tuckshop of the 1960s. I was led through a door into a beautiful garden of paths, orchids of every colour, ferns, etc. When speaking of it, I liken it to the children's book "The Secret Garden". The street it sits in was an ordinary Balinese street (from my limited experience), and I had no idea of the rich beauty behind the street frontages. The service was great and discrete. The waiter served me quietly and efficiently, and then she melted into the garden, leaving me free to enjoy my surroundings. As it was a hot day and I had had a huge, late breakfast, I had a bowl of Coconut Ice Cream and a glass of Dragon Fruit Juice. Both were refreshingly delicious.
