Local Balinese dishes, authentic flavours, cooked by the two owners? If this sounds like your ideal lunch then head to @warungkrisna in Ubud and indulge in the rich flavours and spice, cooked in front of you by the two ladies that own the warung.
We throughly enjoyed our nasi goreng with chicken with a side of tempe sate. We also had a side of urab sayur which was tremendous fresh and tasty. Probably the best we had in Ubud last week.
The nasi goreng was a decent portion, perfect amount of spice, fluffy rice, not too oily, and very flavourful. Egg was cooked perfectly. One of the best in Ubud we say at a price point that is a steal.
The tempe sate was down right. Rich and creamy sate sauce and the tempe skewers were cooked just right, a little crispy, chewy and soft, all the textures you need in a skewer.
The urab sayur was appellants surprise, usually when we have had this at other places it’s drenched in oil and levels spicy. In this instance it was well balanced, and fresh. A winner in our opinion.
The two lady owners were busy cooking in the kitchen (it’s only them cooking and serving the patrons), so be prospered to write down what you want to order, but they provide you with a visual menu to make your life easier.
Don’t expect dishes to be served to you super quick, remember they are the only ones cooking for everyone and doing everything else running the warung, but it’s worth the wait….
The vibe was relaxed, cute little place, a great way to get some shade, have a cold drink and then eat some delish food.

Read moreWe visited Warung Krisna in Ubud. The service was okay. The place itself is quite average in terms of atmosphere.
As a starter, we had spring rolls, which were actually quite decent in taste. For the mains, I had nasi goreng with chicken — it was alright, nothing special. My girlfriend had gado gado and didn’t like it at all — she said it really wasn’t good.
She also ordered a fresh coconut, but instead of being cut open traditionally, it was just pierced with a small hole. This made it hard to check the amount inside, and we suspect some of the coconut water may have been taken out — there was very little in it.
Hygiene was also questionable. On our way out, we noticed they rinse vegetables with regular tap water. Maybe that’s common, but it didn’t give us a good feeling. I had an iced lemon tea, which was just watered-down bottled tea with no flavor whatsoever.
We honestly don’t understand the high ratings for this place. Hopefully we won’t get sick from...
Read moreBeautiful quaint little spot right in the center of Ubud but off in a little alley that sets it aside in a relaxing spot away from the crowd of the city. It’s only little in size, but the food surpasses the food of almost all other local food spots in Ubud.
We were so pleasantly surprised when we tasted the food here because it tasted warm, homemade and extremely flavorful! The satay’s were addictively good and the chicken wings were some of the best wings we have had in the world!
Moreover, this place is run by a hard working and extremely professional family that strive to give customers the best service. The premises is clean with wonderful music, lighting and decor. The staff is extremely homely and make you feel very welcome.
We will definitely be going back here whenever we visit Ubud....
