You can get nasi/mie goreng at just about any restaurant/warung in Bali but they are usually the same fare, and overpriced for what they serve up. When looking for a local warung that makes it home cooked we stumbled across Warung Tradisi, which is located in the courtyard of a family home.
Let’s say we weren’t disappointed, the nasi and mie goreng were cooked by the owner (that also owns the dress shop at the front - Charlene wore the pink dress last night at @thenightrooster) and the flavours were impeccable, well balanced, heaps of umami, and we didn’t want it to end.
We’ve had heaps of local dishes on this trip and our lunch today was up there with the top, our only criticism was the chicken skewers were on the lighter side, and we wished there was more spice/heat. But in saying that, we were very well impressed with the dishes as a whole.
Local, home cooked food, in a family home, it doesn’t get better than this. The satay tempe skewers were great too for the extra protein kick.
Atmosphere and vibe was peaceful, sitting outside but under cover, cool breeze on a hot day, just taking it all in. Owners are very pleasant and you can feel their warmth. Very hospitable.
Highly recommend you check this warung out… you...
Read moreFound this place by chance. It's tucked away & may simply miss it. It's a simple place serving home style food. The food tastes great. Seats are limited. Locally it's called a warung, a simple translation would be a roadside stall!
Had the Nasi Campur Vegetarian, a platter of assortments. The satay with peanut sauce was well made. The tofu was with the sambal which was mild. There were vegetables and a small piece of omelette. There were peanuts for the crunch & toasted coconut for the richness. The whole platter was satisfying.
The watermelon juice was freshly made & refreshing in the heat.
The staff are friendly & serving with a smile. We had to wait more than 30min for the food...kitchen unable to cope with the orders due to a festive season & staff have taken off.
Do visit to try the local...
Read moreWe were with a group of 9 people and found this place through word of mouth. It’s located on Jl. Goutama, which is a busy street, but because this warung is tucked away, you might not notice it at first.
Since we were a larger group, it was hard to get a table, but the staff really went out of their way to help us. They kept us updated via WhatsApp and let us know as soon as they had space for 9 people at one table, so we could come straight over.
The food was delicious, served quickly, and unbelievably affordable. After dinner, we had a great chat with the owner and staff — such lovely people! I highly recommend visiting this place.
Note: Don’t expect luxury or anything fancy — but if you enjoy simple, authentic warung food, this is the...
