In The Compound in Ubud is a peaceful, tucked-away spot that feels like a hidden gem. We had an amazing experience here, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious.
We started with the Fried Bebek (Balinese fried duck), and it was fantastic. The skin was perfectly crispy, while the meat inside remained tender and juicy. The seasoning was spot on, and it had that rich, traditional Balinese flavor. It was a great way to start the meal with something savory and full of local character.
Next, we had the Baby Pork Ribs (Suckling Pig), which were incredibly tender and flavorful. The meat practically fell off the bone, and the marinade was a great balance of sweet and savory, with a slightly smoky finish. Every bite was juicy and packed with flavor, making this dish a true standout.
For dessert, we enjoyed the Dadar Gulung, a traditional Indonesian pandan-flavored crepe filled with coconut and palm sugar. The crepe was soft and slightly chewy, and the filling added the perfect amount of sweetness. It was a light yet satisfying way to end the meal.
We also ordered some refreshing drinks that complemented the meal nicely, keeping things light and fresh.
One of the best things about In The Compound is its serene and cozy atmosphere. Tucked away from the main streets, it feels like a peaceful retreat. The location gives it a hidden, secretive charm that adds to the dining experience. The beautiful setting and quiet surroundings make it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal at your own pace.
The staff were courteous and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our visit. The service added to the overall positive experience.
Overall, we give In The Compound a solid 5/5. The food is delicious, the setting is tranquil, and the service is excellent. If you’re in Ubud and looking for a spot that offers both fantastic local dishes and a peaceful atmosphere, this is...
Read moreMy experience at In Da Compound Warung in Ubud was a mixed bag of good and so-so aspects. This restaurant had some notable highlights but also had areas that could be improved.
Let's start with the positives. The setting of the restaurant is lovely, nestled within a compound that exudes a relaxed, tropical charm. It's an ideal place to enjoy a meal amidst lush greenery and a peaceful atmosphere. The ambiance was definitely a plus.
The menu offered a decent variety of Indonesian and international dishes. I appreciated the opportunity to sample local flavors alongside more familiar options. The service was friendly and attentive, which added to the overall dining experience.
However, the food quality was somewhat inconsistent. While some dishes were well-prepared and flavorful, others were not as impressive. This inconsistency made the dining experience a bit hit-or-miss, which was disappointing.
Pricing at In Da Compound Warung was reasonable, but it didn't particularly stand out in terms of value for money. Some dishes seemed slightly overpriced for the portion size and quality they offered.
In summary, In Da Compound Warung in Ubud offers a decent dining experience with a charming ambiance and friendly service. However, the food quality and value for money could be more consistent. It's worth a visit if you're in the area and seeking a relaxed meal in a...
Read moreSeems like a really nice place with a good atmosphere.
Unfortunately, they couldn't make one of the dishes in our Grab order, and instead of contacting us or requesting us to order something else they cancelled the order 1h45min after we ordered and did not tell us. They didn't own up to the mistake and assumed we wouldn't come to the restaurant. Didn't offer an apology or any other way to fix the mistake like a discount. It was late by this time and everything else was closed.
Pretty bad experience.
Edit: in fairness, after I wrote the review they offered us a cup of tea on the house. However, in response to the owner reply; the restaurant couldn't make a dish, then the driver cancelled instead of the restaurant asking us to adjust the order. Who was wrong? Grab driver said the restaurant, and the restaurant said it was Grab driver - that's not the problem. The problem is this: took the restaurant over an hour and a half to START making the order - before the driver was engaged.
Sorry but I'm updating this review to one star because you didn't take accountability for a meal that took 2.5...
