From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we knew we were in for a treat. The warm and welcoming staff set the tone for what was to come—a truly delightful dining experience.
The menu was thoughtfully curated, reflecting care and creativity in every dish offered.
When the food arrived, the presentation was nothing short of stunning. It was so artfully arranged that we felt a sense of satisfaction before even taking a bite.
And the taste? Absolutely heavenly. You could feel the love and effort poured into every detail, from the preparation in the kitchen to the final touches on the table. The sight, aroma, and perfectly balanced spices worked together in harmony to enchant our senses and tantalize our taste buds.
For drinks, my wife tried the cold Loloh Daun Cemcem, and we were thrilled to experience something so unique and traditional. It’s a delightful introduction to flavors that capture the essence of the region.
I opted for the warm Wedang Rempah, and as someone familiar with Indian masala tea, this milk-free concoction—with its bold notes of lemongrass and palm sugar—has instantly become my all-time favorite drink.
The Sate Fish and Sate Mutton were exceptional, with spices deeply marinated into the tender meat, creating layers of flavor in every bite.
The Sop Kepala Ikan stood out with its distinctive cucumber-forward flavor, which was both refreshing and satisfying.
Finally, the Daun Belimbing Kalasan (starfruit leaves) was a first for us. Cooked with their signature homemade spices, it was a wonderfully crafted dish that left a lasting impression.
The Es Teler here isn’t just any ordinary Es Teler. It’s a generously sized bowl brimming with ingredients like fermented cassava, creamy avocado, fresh coconut flesh, and fragrant jackfruit. Truly, it’s a king among cold desserts—unmatched anywhere!

Read moreBali Timbungan Sarinah, located within Sarinah mall, presents an enticing exploration of Balinese heritage cuisine. While the mall setting may not fully capture Bali's traditional ambiance, the restaurant incorporates subtle Balinese elements into its spacious and inviting dining area.
Despite my limited expertise in Balinese cuisine, I found the dishes to be authentically flavorful. Among the dishes sampled, the Bebek Timbungan stood out with its succulent, bamboo-cooked duck, presented elegantly and bursting with rich flavors. Accompanied by delightful sides like peanut sauce-drenched long beans, the portion size was generous and ideal for sharing.
The Ayam Betutu, ordered on a whim, also impressed with its well-spiced flavors and appealing presentation. While it didn't surpass the exceptional Bebek Timbungan, it certainly held its own.
Service was commendable, though likely aided by the relatively sparse crowd during my visit.
In comparing Bali Timbungan Sarinah to its Bali counterpart, the main difference lies in the ambiance. While the Bali branch offers a more authentic Balinese atmosphere, the culinary experience at Bali Timbungan Sarinah remains remarkably comparable.
In summary, Bali Timbungan Sarinah delivers a delightful culinary journey through Balinese flavors. With its authentic dishes, pleasing presentation, and attentive service, it earns my recommendation for those seeking an authentic taste of Bali within Jakarta's...

My friend came up with idea at Bali Timbungan as she had good experience there before which then agreed by us in seconds. Especially our Balinese friend - I could imagine stars blinking in her eyes when texted "Mauuuuuu"😄 - aaannndd she approved the meals. She said very tasty and click with her.
We ordered Ayam Betutu Metimbung, Sate Lilit Ikan, Ginger Tea, Lemon Grass Tea, and three others I couldn't recall the name. All taste good even the hot tea. Bit pricey but worthy. Taste and portion is good.
Advance booking is recommended especially for lunch and dinner. They'll send confirmation on Whatsapp and request deposit +/- IDR 100K/pax to secure the seat.
Location is good in Central Jakarta at Jalan MH Thamrin. Close to MRT Bundaran HI Station five minutes walking distance. Taxi/Bajaj 3-wheels-motorcycle/Online Ojek or Car/Bus all available.
