Mudra Café – A Soulful Hub of Art, Music & Flavor in Ubud
Mudra Café is not just a place to eat; it’s an experience. From the moment you step in, you feel the creative energy flowing through the art-covered walls, the carefully curated music, and the welcoming community vibe. This café has soul, blending food, culture, and connection in an inspiring way.
Food & Drinks The menu is incredibly original, featuring creative vegetarian, vegan, and dairy options. Some highlights:
Vegan Burger – One of the best in Bali! The vegan bacon is impressive, and I usually ask for the BBQ sauce on the side for a perfect balance. Japanese Seaweed Tacos – Outstanding! The combination of flavors is next level. Unbeatable – My absolute favorite drink. I literally started craving it while writing this! Cacao & Peanut Butter Smoothie – A recommendation from Julian, one of the staff members, and it did not disappoint.
The prices are mid-range, but the quality is top-notch. Every dish is not only delicious but beautifully presented—true edible art.
Ambiance & Experience A vibrant, artistic space – From the stunning laser-cut art to the symbolic Mudra hand movements incorporated into the concept, every detail adds meaning.
Social & community-driven – This place is more than a café; it’s a hub for artists, digital nomads, and creatives. You’ll often find inspiring people working, discussing ideas, or just enjoying the vibe.
Dog-friendly – A huge plus for pet lovers! Perfect for dates – If you’re looking for a unique, cozy, and romantic spot in Ubud, this is it.

Read moreI’ve been here 3 times because of a community event, but each time whilst the presentation of food is beautiful, I’ve been very disappointed with the food. It lacks flavour, the poke bowls are too dry, they include white rice (which is not mentioned on the menu which I never eat because it’s not a healthy option and it’s confusing it’s even served here as I thought this was supposedly a health conscious cafe??) and for the tiny 4” bowl portions you get for a main meal, it would be so much better if customers were at least served red or organic rice with some nutrition especially for the exorbitant price charged (95K for Maestro’s Delight).
I have lived in and off in Bali for over 10 years so I know a few other restaurants. I can eat at another nearby healthfood restaurant, pay 20K less and get TWICE as much food, which is not only tastier, but it’s healthier too & far more satisfying. However, the smoothie was good once I swopped out the cashew milk & it was a generous portion. Also the ambience was lovely tonight with beautiful music 🎶 although the other times I’ve been, it just got far too loud to be comfortable.
It doesn’t sit well with me the feeling of paying such high prices for food which is so disappointing, so even though the music was lovely, I just didn’t feel comfortable staying.
The service is also very hit and miss. Sometimes the staff are looking to serve customers and sometimes they’re just chatting amongst themselves and not looking to see who’s ready to order, so I’ve often had to get up and walk over just to get served! I notice other customers have mentioned this too.
If I came again to the community event here, I would definitely eat somewhere else first, especially because of the tiny dinner meal portions, crazy high prices, lack of taste, poor value & service. Ubud is a Mecca for the vegan or vegetarian connoisseur and there are far better places to...
Read moreI have come here SO many times during my stay in Ubud. The whole building and decoration is stunning, and there is a very relaxed but fun vibe. They also have live music events on some days of the week and currently the whole place works as an art exhibition for the artist Riz Riz Rizz, which is just really special. I was in awe at the whole decoration every single time I went! They also have really a lot of choice for meals and drinks it’s hard to get bored! When I first came I found the food, and especially their boba drinks really amazing, but after the first couple of times I found it more average. (They have very good matcha here btw!!) I guess it really depends what you’re used to. Regardless, the presentation and creativity in the meals shows they have put thought and effort into it. The staff is friendly and servicial, and they accepted card and cash. The space is quite big and it is open so you can get the jungle vibes from the landscape outside. The serving area is on the second floor so you can certainly get these tree house vibes. There is a restroom which I always found clean, and I believe you can charge your phone/computer in the serving area. There is a lot of people working or spending a long time in there as well. It is personally my favourite place to...
