We spent 5 days here as a family of three.
We contacted the staff prior to staying here to check if we could take a room as a couple with a young daughter as the occupancy of each room is set at 2 max. They were more than happy to accommodate us.
We were welcomed with a lovely blessing which was a cute touch to relax you into Ubud life!
We took the bungalow which was cosy, with a large bathroom with lots of storage for clothes, a small kitchen and table and chairs.
All the rooms are decorated uniquely and the place has a real quirky vibe about it. The rooms are clean but I would recommend the manager thinks about deep cleaning the mosquito nets regularly, the one above our bed was covered in bugs on the top, bit apart from that everything was really clean.
It is in a really good location just off one of the main streets but really quiet at night. There are lots of local restaurants on the same street and somewhere on the corner that does same day laundry. There is also a pool in the centre of the place which our daughter loved.
All the staff are really lovely and friendly, creating a really family vibe about it. I don’t know if some staff were new as sometimes they didn’t know answers to somethings ie the website advertises they know a short cut to yoga barn but no one knew this. It was no biggie I found it ok but worth making sure staff are aware, as we booked this place to be close to the yoga barn specifically.
The breakfast menu has lots of options and we liked not having to be up at the crack of dawn to catch the service!
The only let down for us was that it advertises itself as a co working space, and whilst there are plenty of places to work, the WiFi was pretty terrible unless in the restaurant, which isn’t great for making calls or working in the evenings when our daughter was in bed, we hoped to work from the kitchen table. Again no biggie but worth considering if this is your main consideration for your stay. If we were just on holiday it would have been the perfect base for Ubud and we would absolutely return as it was great value for...
Read moreWe are a family of 4 on a 2-month trip to Bali and staying here and experiencing what Onion Co had to offer was just so great. The convenience and the comfort level from both the front restaurant and the back working space couldn’t have been better. It felt clean, spacious and fun to be in such a sweet creative environment. Important for us was good WiFi and a kitchen. The WiFi was strong and stable, and the kitchen was simple, clean and provided everything we needed. One night we joined for dinner and live music and the musicians were absolutely phenomenal. Another night we got dessert and we’re given free drinks for ladies night. And finally a word about the staff. You will not find a genuinely kinder sweeter staff than here. On the last morning of our stay I was treated to an offering making lesson from Rina, who thoughtfully met me in the front with all the flowers and supplies we needed and she generously shared her time not only teaching me how to make these offerings, but she was patient enough to explain the intentions behind all the elements. She offered this to me simply because I was curious and told her of my fascination. Who else does this?!! Incredible enriching experience, and for sure we will be coming back. Treat yourself while you’re in Ubud, and go...
Read moreFood (veggie & beef burger with fries) was very good, prices were on the higher side of Ubud but still OK counting with the decoration. Cocktails were clearly on the overpriced side (even with the 20% happy hour discount we still payed 155,000 IDR for two) but they were tasty and it was nice to taste some local spirits. Service was really, really bad: we asked for a mosquito spray (there are quite some of those). A waiter said he would check. He never came back to let us know about the result of his inquiries, it was only after asking him for a second time that he let us know that they didn't had any. That's OK, but at least let us know instead of making us wait and wonder in vain. After our meal, we asked for an ashtray. The waiter said "yes sure". He never brought it and I had to stand up and go all the way to the bar to get it from his lazy hands. It seems as if he was terribly bothered to walk the 5 meters between our table and the spot where he was smoking and checking his phone. It makes you wonder whether if he got right who is the customer and who is the waiter. If you wonder why people don't tip you,...
