Café 1920 — Restaurant in Dublin

One star is for the hot chocolate which was extremely yummy!

However that being said, not much more can be said for the rest of our experience in this café. Firstly we were told no menus, so we had no idea of what the breakfast offerings were and how much everything was. Luckily none of us had any dietary requirements, otherwise this could have caused some concern not being able to see what ingredients are going to be in what we order. Once told what the 3 breakfast options were (extremely limited) one of us asked for beans on toast to which we were told they couldn’t do…we then saw other people have beans & toast on their full Irish breakfast so why we couldn’t have one portion of just beans & toast I do not know! But it gets worse…one of us ordered the breakfast bap but with just sausages in it no egg and well when the food arrived she was given just 3 sausages on a plate nothing else. We weren’t checked on or asked how our food was when we were cleared. We waited for the bill…€11.50 for 3 sausages on their own. We asked about why we had been charged €11.50 for a breakfast bap when that isn’t what we received and the waitress came back over and took them off the bill and made a sarcastic remark about how next time to just order what is on the menu…when all we wanted was the breakfast bap with no eggs because of allergies. Wouldn’t recommend, decor looks great but staff need to work on their customer service, menus need to be provided and providing alternative choices for those who have allergies which is essential in this day. I'm not one to leave negative reviews, but this warrants one I feel. Poor staff and below average food. My friend and I went for lunch in Cafe 1920, we could barley hold a conversation as the staff were laughing and joking right behind us. One waitress went around wiping down tables while loudly whistling the theme song to Beverly Hill cop, as funny as that sounds it was unprofessional and very annoying she basically whistled the whole song! Not once were we checked on to see if we needed anything and for most of our time there we were the only customers in the restaurant. We love wings so ordered chicken wings for starter, they were dreadful, rubbery chicken. Went for the chicken burger for main, very average not worth the money we didn't finish any of our food. A shame because the place looks the part but doesn't live up to...

We were drawn in by the atmosphere the place exuded, decided to step inside, and were immediately captivated by the elegant, fancy, and warm ambiance. We ordered a variety of cocktails, each one different, and they were all presented and explained to us by the incredibly kind Mr. Patrick. We were truly impressed by his professionalism, as well as the energy, dedication, and passion he puts into crafting his cocktails. We also tried some appetizers, which were delicious, full of flavor, and very pleasant on the palate. Overall, the experience was extraordinary, and the service from the entire staff was impeccable — incredibly attentive and thoughtful. We will definitely be back with great pleasure, and we highly recommend you stop by to experience and appreciate everything this place...
