Keep in mind this event happend before the covid passes had been removed the following week. Upon arrival we were met with "we need proof of vaccination certs & ID or valid antigen test or PCR. When we told them we don't need one for checking in nor was it stated on their website, emails or booking.com page that it was required, we were again met with "No you need one also for hotels & it's in the public guidelines. We again expressed "No, you are required one for bar & restaurants in hotels but not required upon check-in". The manager left for about 10mins & acted as if he was doing us a favour when he came back by allowing us to check in "this time". When we questioned him further he responded with we are just following guidelines & those are the rules, that there is nothing he can do. We then stated that it's not a public health rule but IN FACT the hotels policy rule, so actually there is something they can do about it.
He began making excuses as to why they only wanted to have vaccinated people in the hotel and that was to keep the "free flowing area clean" & it wasn't about keeping out unvax people out of fear they are infected. I pointed out that Vaccinated people are still spreading the virus, which he agreed & acknowledged. So who was the area to be clean from? Also we were told cause we weren't vaxed that we cudnt use the lobby area.
So basically this hotel & from what the manager said other hotels are discriminating against unvaccinated people (that include you un-boostered people) from their premises while acknowledging that both vaccinated & unvaccinated are potentially infectious people which means there is no logical reason behind discriminating against unvaccinated people. This is not a case of opinion but rather an actual scientific fact that nobody is ACTUALLY immune to this virus therefore these covid passes are a tool for coercion & social segregation based on a medical choice & not about saftey.
I will end it with the receptionist who did check us in was very kind, polite & did everything toung lady and did everything she could to try make the situation better & is the only reason why this review is getting 1 Star. But as a conclusion we will never be returning to this hotel in the future even with covid passes being removed. Between the obvious discrimination in our own country & lack of common sense, this manger would do well to learn from this encounter to not blindly follow & extend these ridiculous guidelines onto their customers set out by the government or hotel policies. Great way to ruin a 30th...
Read moreJust back from a 3-night stay at Temple Bar Hotel and honestly wouldn’t stay again.||Location-wise, it’s spot on and check-in was really easy – staff were friendly and welcoming even though we arrived in the early hours after a delayed flight.||But straight away, we noticed a weird smell in the corridor near our room (435), and when we walked into the room it hit us again – like a damp or musty smell. The AC had been left blasting on full and it was absolutely freezing, even though the outside temp wasn’t above 20°, and the window was open too. We were too tired to ask for another room that late and hoped the smell might clear by morning, but it didn’t.||Every time we came back to the room the AC had been turned back on full blast – no idea why the cleaning staff need to leave it like that, but it made the room freezing and took ages to warm up. Possibly trying to mask the smell?||Bathroom definitely needs a full refurb – the bath is really dated and the panel looked like it had been painted over damp as it was warped. There was black mould on the ceiling and the extractor fan doesn’t seem to work – the whole room just stayed damp, even thin face cloths didn’t dry overnight.||The windows were probably the worst bit – honestly never seen hotel windows in that state before. Filthy, with mould on them and even on the curtains. Not acceptable and definitely not hygienic.||It’s also noisy – which you expect in Temple Bar, but still. Constant traffic noise, bin lorries reversing at 4am, and street cleaning – so just bear that in mind if you’re a light sleeper.||We did email the hotel after the second night to ask to switch rooms for the final night, as the smell was still really noticeable, but got no reply. Bit frustrating as they’d been quick to respond before we checked in. We didn’t want the hassle of going down to the desk after a long day, and rooms were still showing as available online so no idea why we weren’t moved.||On the plus side, the room itself was tidy and the bed was comfy. Lobby and common areas were clean too.||But for €700 for 3 nights, there are much better hotels in Dublin that don’t feel tired and run down. Disappointed overall and won’t be...
Read moreWe did not stay at this hotel due to extreme excessive noise and the hotel refused our request for a refund. We ended up booking two rooms at the Holiday Inn Express Dublin Hotel a few blocks away for cheaper than one room at Temple Bar Hotel and I highly recommend that hotel.
The music could be heard clearly in our room. Upon checking in, we noted that the bar attached to the hotel was playing dance club loud music. We were instantly concerned. We requested a room as far away from the bar as possible and explained to the hotel check-in desk that we were very concerned about the noise. He told us we would not be able to hear it at all from our room and if we could, to come see him and he would remedy the situation. We knew there was a pub attached to the hotel, but had no idea it would be playing music that loudly, not that the sound proofing of the room would be insufficient. Once in our room, we could hear the music plainly. We checked the window to be sure it was close, which was only single paned. Obviously, the hotel knows that the music can be heard as in the room were individually wrapped ear plugs. We walked the halls and floors to find the quietest portion and returned to the front desk to ask to be moved and we were told there was no other room or rooms in the hotel available away from the bar.. While walking we met two women we spoke to who had slept there the night before and said they had to use the earplugs provided, and the music had stopped at 10. We then inquired with a bar employee who said the music would be playing until 2 am. Obviously, this was not going to work for us as we need to sleep. We spent a few more minutes in the room booking a different hotel, left our keys with the front desk staff (who only offered a half-hearted "sorry") and walked with our luggage to our other accomodations. There was no warning upon booking that the music would be so loud, nor that it could be heard in the room, nor that earplugs are provided (they obviously know!).
This is not a place to sleep, it's a...
