Yesterday, my colleagues and I visited Cellar 22 for a work dinner, and unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience from start to finish.
While the welcome was friendly, it was the only positive aspect of the evening. After being seated, service quickly became slow and disorganized, with lengthy waits between courses dragging the dinner out to an exhausting 3.5 hours.
Although we had initially booked for nine guests, only seven were able to attend. This was adjusted without issue upon arrival — yet when it came time to settle the bill, we were still charged for nine people. No flexibility or goodwill was offered to account for this, despite it being clear from both our booking confirmation and the evening itself.
We were told we had a remaining budget of €39 (including service charge) and ordered a final bottle of wine based on this information. However, when we were ready to leave, we were unexpectedly presented with an additional service charge of €110 (which also included a service fee for the missing people). The lack of clear communication around the billing was unacceptable, especially for a restaurant positioning itself at a premium level.
Adding further to the disappointment, the cost of the meal alone was €55 per person — not the €50 advertised when we confirmed the menu in advance. No explanation was given for this sudden increase. The overall bill approached €1,000, yet the quality of service and food fell far short of what you would expect at this price point.
The food itself also failed to deliver. The menu promised a foie gras and chicken parfait; instead, we were served a mousse-y chicken parfait, again with no communication or acknowledgment of the change.
Given the combination of poor service, lack of transparency around pricing, and underwhelming food, it’s safe to say we will not be returning. We would strongly advise others booking for a group to think twice before...

The ambience of this beautiful basement wine bar is unparalleled, offering a choice between the charming small terrace, snug booths inside, or cosy seating for larger groups.
Our meal was a feast for the senses, with scrumptious sandwiches and soul-warming soups that left us craving for more. And to cap off our culinary journey, we treated ourselves to a heavenly slice of Black Forest Gateau that was simply divine.
But what truly set this dining experience apart was the exceptional service provided by the delightful staff. Their attentiveness and helpfulness added an extra layer of warmth and joy to our meal, making us feel truly valued and well taken care of.
In conclusion, Cellar 22 is a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable gastronomic adventure in Dublin. With its delectable offerings, inviting ambience, and top-notch service, it's a dining destination that will leave you with a contented heart and a...
