Jay's Cafe Broadstone — Restaurant in Dublin

Ordered a cappuccino here today to have in. Was also about to get a pastry as I had already eaten lunch. The time was 12.45. I was told by the gentleman behind the counter that I couldn't sit in as I was not getting lunch. I get a coffee and a pastry in many cafes in the area, some of which are the same size, sometimes smaller, and serve food. Never once have I been refused a bench, nevermind a table. So if your coming here for a coffee between the hours of 12 and 2, make sure you tell your man behind the counter that he has a lovely beard... Ps I didnt get the coffee but I imagine its...

This place is an absolute gem. I stumbled into Jay’s when I arrived in Dublin and had some time to kill before my check-in. Not only is the food great but Jay and his friends were super hospitable and gave me a great many recommendations for things to do in the city. Jay even opened up a tad earlier the following morning so I could come in and take a packed lunch with me to a country side excursion. Dublin took a little piece of my heart and people like Jay made my trip even that more special....

Top notch food and coffee, prepared early every morning, and served by great staff. The little store side of the cafe is great for picking up some tapenade or hot sauce and some sourdough to bring home, and it's open early enough to pop in for a coffee before work.
