One of the few places left in the area run by and for locals. Very loyal to the local area, which is reflected in the prices. Where others have engaged in price gouging citing cost of living and gentrification, Kavanaghs has remained true as a bastion for the local working man. The food is top quality, with their full Irish breakfast and Sunday carvery top of the list. Soup, fish and chips and burgers are similarly some of the best you'll find. This is a great spot to spend some time, watch sports or just enjoy the feeling of a classic Irish pub, untouched by the advancement of globalisation and the erosion of Dublin culture. As a culchie, it's one of the few places I know I can get a proper decent feed. All staff have always been sound out and happy to have a bit of craic, something that is comforting and welcoming, whilst also being very helpful. Cannot recommend this place enough to anyone visiting or just moving into the area....

I was also disappointed one Sunday to order turkey no gravy from a young lady waitress .However beef came out with gravy .She apologised about the gravy and said they had a new chef and she got it wrong.Howevee when I looked under the gravy it was beef. I brought this to the attention of the lady waitress. And said chef must be very new she not know beef from turkey. THEN I heard her tell the story to a more senior lady behind the counter .They both started giggling but never asked if I wanted to change to turkey.I felt let down by this unreasonable behaviour. USUALLY their is a very nice gentleman on the carved and everything is good.but I would recommend the Sunday lunch.just following my bad experience I won't be returning any time soon...

Very attentive owner, who immediately served cold water as we sat down. When we were unsure about which drinks to select, he had us sample the beers we were considering. The beers were fresh and properly draughted.
We had fish and chips and a cottage pie. The fish was very good and came fresh and hot in a crispy batter with accompanying tartar and vinegar, without being oily. The chips were also good.
We really liked the cottage pie, which came hot from the oven with a portion size that was just right.
We were pleasantly surprised by how good the chocolate delight was - a warmed up chocolate cake with ganache and two balls of vanilla icecream.
The pub has a familiar, relaxed atmosphere with easy going 80s music playing. On a weekday lunch we were the only...
