The owner made a cheeky reply (how fitting) when I generously gave them a blank 3-star review for fairly poor service. So I'll give them my actual rating, even though I hate doing it to small businesses. There are three main reasons for my rating:
Firstly, the staff weren't attentive. We had to go to the counter and ask for a menu after waiting at the sign for a while. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. Afterwards, we had to go back to the counter again to order our food and coffees because the staff kept walking past us. This would be fine if the place was busy, but it wasn't.
Secondly, we waited about 10 minutes before our coffees arrived. Then the food arrived immediately after. I don't know about you guys, but it isn't optimal to keep a table waiting for coffees and then serve them alongside hot food. People generally don't like to drink hot drinks with hot main meals, unless the food is something small like a toastie.
Thirdly, the coffee and food require some improvement. The cappuccino was served in a small, regular mug and tasted worse than many coffees I've tried before. I'd suggest increasing the temperature, portion size, and bean strength. I got the Irish breakfast and the sausages and rashers were anemic. The beans, egg, and black pudding were fine. They served two slices of toast for both of us, even though we both ordered a full Irish; one of the slices had a tiny insect on it. We didn't receive the white pudding as advertised on the menu. Furthermore, the full Irish served here gives you less, and the aforementioned anemic sausages and rashers leave you unfulfilled. Other cafes like the Woodmill Cafe provide excellent full Irish breakfasts.
Other than that, the place is clean and their outdoor area is sufficient. It seems like people were frequently ordering the alcoholic drinks, so this place seems like it'd be a good choice if you're looking for a casual few cocktails outside. The table beside us commented that the chicken bap ā or something like it ā was 'very nice.' I won't discuss pricing as the menu is visible on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBest brunch I have ever had. Went here with my boyfriend for brunch, it was random spot we came across on google, quite hidden between buildings. There was plenty of seating available both inside and outside, and the place wasn't too busy so we didn't need a reservation; more people gathered as lunch time approached so reservations could be necessary when visiting at busy times.
They had reasonably priced food and great range. The menu also stated that all their bread is home made which was evidently true with the quality of bread we received.
I ordered an avocado egg toast, which was vegetarian friendly while my boyfriend ordered a pulled pork sandwich. The pork sandwich was gorgeous with soft pulled pork, a smoky and lightly spicy sauce and sweet onions, the bun which it was served on was pillowy soft and so fresh, it also came with crisps on the side which were surprisingly crispy and not stale.
For drinks we ordered mimosas which were lovely, and coffee, I got the Vietnamese iced coffee which was perfectly sweet and milky for me, my boyfriend got an americano and said it was good quality coffee too.
Even though we were full we got the home made banana bread for dessert, we love banana bread and we thought it was amazing, it came with lots of fun toppings, very sweet but the fresh blueberries complimented the sweetness nicely.
Overall a very pleasant experience, and best breakfast/lunch/brunch I had in Ireland at least with experience from Cork,
Prices were very reasonable for Dublin and without the alcoholic drinks our prices per person would equate to something...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWaited over 45 minutes for a cup of coffee and some pancakes when the place was half-full. The servers were nice and apologised profusely for the wait, so I don't blame them. They said there had been persistent complaints today, so something is clearly wrong. Either the kitchen is undermanned or the chef is coasting by.
Left and went to Kavanaghs nearby, and got served in under 20 minutes despite the place being full, so that excuse won't fly.
I didn't say those other places were open. I said Kavanaghs was open, because it's true. Look at its hours if you don't believe me. Or are you using them being closed as an excuse? You can't handle more people because rivals are closed? Tell your staff to make people aware of slow service next time.
"We were never half full". Lmao hold on a second, are you trying to suggest to people that a restaurant will not at some point be half full on the way to being full? You're having a laugh. This is basic maths, unless you're going to claim next that people teleported in and out of the seats. We beat an afternoon rush by the looks of it when seated. Take a breath and fix your problems instead of being defensive. If I was just trolling I wouldn't even write this much to make you aware of the problem. You expect me to sit there for what could have been up to an hour for something so simple and not give you a bad review that you earned? Wind...
