I stayed in room #1 and all went smooth. Check-in was at the bar and whenever I needed assistance someone at the bar easily accommodated. Thorough communication via e-mail prior to and at the end of my stay also allowed my experience to be comfortable. The noise levels of surrounding rooms or people passing through the stairs (no elevators) was heard, but not at an unreasonable level nor consistency. I was not bothered by it. I could not hear noise from the bar one level below. I learnt that to use the stove, you need to have a pot or pan on the burner. User instructions for the oven and stove would be useful - I needed to get dressed and go down to the bar for help, but someone came up and helped me troubleshoot straightaway and I was able to cook my meal. Secure Internet worked well. There was a full length mirror and I found the hair dryer in a kitchen cupboard. I enjoyed the complimentary snacks and water. Molloy’s is conveniently located next to the Connolly Train Station and just a quick walk (on a flat, smooth surface) to a direct airport bus in front of city hall. I am attaching a photo of the walking path between the direct Airport Express bus stop from Molloy's. There really is no need to pay for a taxi to and from the airport as the bus was very easy. There is no limit to your luggage, you can pay on board and they run basically 24hrs. Trains do not run to and from the airport. The Celt pub nearby was great for Irish music every night. But you get a 10% discount at Molloy’s by showing your room key. Plenty of grocery stores around. Meeting points for tours are a twenty minute walk away. I quite liked Molloy’s and appreciated the staff in ensuring a...
Read moreI found Molloy’s to be a good place to grab a few drinks. They have the bar partitioned into two areas, one with a more mature audience and the other with music and an audience of mixed maturities.
They’ve got any and everything you need from a bar perspective, except food, but they’re allegedly cool if you bring something in and eat it up.
Dress code..really? Yes really, and a sign clearly states “no track suits” 😬😭so leave you Adidas, Fila, Le Coq Sportif at home! In addition to that, there’s one of those “no shirt, no…” signs…have a laugh!
4 stars for Molloy’s, could have been a 5 if there was bar food.
Finally, there was some kind of live music towards 9p, seemed fun!
Edit: We also stayed at the apartment that seemed at the corner of the building, with the train tracks within arm’s reach. It has nice windows that open up, I love the bustling city street sounds as the city wakes up and (eventually) goes down, notwithstanding this is above a bar so that may be later than you think 😀 The rooms were nice, probably remodeled in some few years. All of the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was nice enough to stash your beers and make a meal if you needed. The two things that you should know about this unit is that it’s up a few stairs, like 30, so keep that in mind because there’s no lift. Luggage may be challenging for some. Oh, the train does come through what seemed to be 20 hours a day…it’s a(n) elevated train so expect noise and a shake. I’d definitely stay again albeit a...
Read moreCheck-in was from 3 pm. Before that time our luggage could be stored on site.
Staff were kind and even helped carry some luggage up for us.
We had the standard apartment with 2 bedrooms for 3 people.
There were some steps to climb to the apartment and in our apartment we were almost on top of the rail tracks, but in the end that didn't bother us. If you're watching the telly and a train passes by, yes there's a moment when the sound of the TV is too low but during the night we haven't been woken by any train. We heard no noise from the pub either. Even though it was lovely weather and we had the window open. And otherwise you could do as our daughter did: Keep the window shut and put the fan on that's in the bedrooms.
The apartment is spacious enough, had great beds and a good shower. The kitchen area was spacious too with a big fridge and freezer. There weren't many pots and pans though but we just ate out so it didn't bother us. There were plenty of plates, mugs, glasses.
The location is great. In some 15-20 minutes you can walk to the centre of Dublin. I saw some reviews about a young woman travelling alone not feeling really safe. I'm a woman and I walked there by myself and had no issues. But maybe if you get back to the apartment late in the evening it might feel different, somewhat rough. But it's a fairly busy street in daytime.
By the way, the pub doesn't serve food. There are options in the neighborhood for food though, take away...
